Anyone here mod a 10/22 to make a "military trainer?" I'm not really referring to the "uber tactical" mods, but more in line with an M14 look-alike. Anyone mess with Tech Sights or trigger mods?

Not to much out there to dress up the little 10/22. Muzzelite makes a bolt together stock set to turn it into a type of bullpup and this has been used a lot on TV. The best conversion I have seen is the stock set that make it look like a German MG 42. That one is a real eye catcher. I have been thinking about doing one like that especially since you can get 50 rd drum mags for the 10/22.

There's a kit to make them look sort of like an AK type deally.

i saw a kit on the sportsmansguide.com called the krinker plinker, it kind of makes the 10/22 look like a krinkov. but it is pretty spendy.

The krinker plinker is a nice kit and I love mine, not some cheap piece of plastic, real metal and new barrel how could you not have one. Go to there web site http://www.krinkerplinker.com/

I was thinking of starting with this, and dressing it up to resemble an M14.

The tech sights are junk IMO... but thats just me. Some like them. i didnt. Personally I like the stock sights on the 10-22. Ive tried a few different brands of peep sights, and didn't care for any of em. Out of all 3, the tech sights was the stoutest, and best made, but I still didnt prefer it.

There's not really a whole lot to an M14 as far as making a military trainer goes. I mean its just a wood gun shaped like a normal gun. The AK variants, the Krinker and such make it look unique... the 10-22 already resembles an M14 when stock. I guess you could get the same LOP, or something like that...

To make it fit better there are buttstock extensions to give you a longer pull. Ramline used to made a ventlated handguard that gave you more of a military type look to the rifle, and keep your hand off of the barrel. I made the mistake when I was younger of putting lots of money into a 10/22 that would have been far better spent though on some military type of rifles though.

This is not a "military trainer" type conversion, but I thought I would share
the link. You have to register to view it.

To answer the first question that will be asked, No it is not mine.
It was built by a friend of mine. Enjoy!

Here's a thread from over at Rimfirecentral where some guy built an M1 Carbine clone out of a 10/22.

Yes seeing that 10/22 made to look like an M-1 Carbine makes me want to get it and start a new project. But I want to finish my MG42 Semi Auto one first.

Speaking of making the 10/22 look like a M-1 carbine, there always was the faux ar carrying handle and front sight, never liked it and cannot even find a picture of it on the net any more.
