This is the first time shooting in about 2-3 years that my cetme has functioned faultlessly. Shooting today to get rid of my traceless tracers ( still good for the occasional brush fire ) I shot against a bulldozed berm. How sweet it is to have that rifle function like it should.
Now I need to get the mags sorted. I used a 20 rd and a 4 rd ( sold as a 5 but it won't work with five.) mag. The 20 had two spots where it hung up and the bolt rode over the shell. The 4 would unlatch itself after the second shot unless I put my palm under it. Every time. I think the notch is the problem, it locks in - I can't pull it back out, but under recoil the beveled notch seems to slip. I'm going to have to check my other mags for feeding reliability, but sure hate to use that much ammo. And I only found 32 of the 60 cases I shot.
But the RIFLE functions!:clapping:

sounds like you need a new mag-catch spring is all... thatll hold those mags nice and tight and keep em from falling out.

I had a couple of the CETME mags that were iffy; all my G3 seem to run fine.
I took all my CETME steel mags apart, cleaned the crap out of them, stretched the springs a little, then sprayed some dry lube inside. Found one that had a ding in the body, straightened that out.
3 out of 4 run good now, have to do some more work on one.

My 20 rounders don't fall out, even fully loaded. It's only after the second shot. I've cleaned the mags, but didn't use any dry lube. That's something to try. I have a bunch of cetme and G3 mags. I'll slowly get them sorted.
I alway pay a heavy tribute to the brass gods. :piratecap:

I took all my Cetme mags apart, sanded the insde front and rear walls, dri-slided the same walls, buffed the edges of the followers and stamped numbers into the floor plates. Test time will be next week. If I still have mag problems I'll keep them for show and use the HK mags. Got a gun show here tomorrow to enjoy.

One of the really good things about getting aluminum G3 mags cheap is that you can find one a little beat up and cut it down for a 5 or 10 rounder easily.
They tend to lock up better than the steel manufactured 5 round mags.

You need a brass catcher! I bought 5 at a local gunshow for 12 dollars each and they are great!

You know Rusty, what a freaking sad world where a company that sells brass catchers has to put on the pictures "Rifle Not Included"...

that would be like "i want some of those bling wheels" and the person would need to tell you "not a problem but we do tell all of our customers that the vehicle is not included with the sale of the product"
Well no diddly crap. Some sites.... i swear. :1087:
