I got a cut down Cugir last summer for $65 with a scope on it, no front or rear sight and the scope keeps getting hit with the bolt handle I plan on putting a LER scope on it down the road and cutting the barrel down to 18" or so perhaps.

Ignore the rifle on the top I got that 45/70 for a song with the tang sight and leather work.

I bought one of the smaller ones for my boy, and did some customizing(bubba'ing) to it. It shoots great, but I have a hard time getting ammo to feed from the mag.

I found this one at a show today and it followed me home after I talked the price down...The barrel has a bit of throat in it which I've never seen in a .22rimfire before..The barrel is crisp as the day it was cut it looks like.

That is a interesting rifle, the sights look like something from the old west. It would make a great deer or Black bear rifle. How does it shoot? It looks like an H&R Topper coverted to a rifle. If you ever have time post some more pics in the hunting sections.

Hello everyone, new guy here. I love my romy's.
Here is one I redid. My wife has claimed it.
Wildbill cody I found the problem you are talking about with your mag. I finally figured out the problem and the cure. It is not youre mag but your bolt that is the problem. It only takes about 2 minutes with a dremel to permanently fix. My wifes and sons now operate flawlessly.

i need to find an 80's dated barreled receiver so i can use standard 3/8 dovetail rings and put on a scope of some kind. Ive got modified rings (ground down) to fit the narrower rail on the older ones but it just doesnt seem rock solid.

I wish i could find someone to do a trigger job on it

Cut out the 1st stage and buff the 2nd. Mine is about1.75 lbs pull after. I'm still really interested in that adjustable Butt stock. So what is it and where do I get one for my next redo. I've got 2 more to do and I'd like one for my little girls!

as far as rings go that is a milling grip not a ring base. I found great working rings at Wally World. I would look them up but if I remember correctly they are the only vertical split rings they sell. $12

They worked great on my 1st build for my son.

Took mine out after I got done with classes today. Somebody left me a nice pile of red 12ga hulls to shoot up. So I took a handful and threw them on the berm and went back about 60'...started offhand then started to snap shoot when I got bored with taking my time moved back to 75' or so ....I went through about 50 hulls before I bounced them all off the safe zone on the berm. This is a sweet gun. I found some primmed 38spl brass somebody pulled apart (any good story starts with "I found a small amount of explosive") and left out there so I took about 8 paces back and shot at the bases offhand. shot 8 with 15 shots only found 1 the rest went flyyyyyyyying primers all seemed to go off though I couldn't tell cause of the shape of our shooting bay. I wouldn't have tried that if somebody else was out there but since I was all alone and I saw no harm in it I went ahead and tried it. I gotta say its hard to see the base of a 38spl at that distance without knowing where to look. I'm liking this gun so much I might shoot it instead of my match rifle when silhouette starts up in 2 months.

ive heard you dont want to mess with the guts doing your own homemade trigger job without knowing what your doing (parts nearly impossible to get) can you elaborate further on what you did for the trigger pull? mine is by far worse than the worst mosin trigger i have. You have to pull really hard then it finnaly snaps all of a sudden really hard and i try to pull it easy but i end up jerking it bad because the trigger is terrible! even worse than my nagant revolver trigger by far!

There has to be something wrong, there. My M69 has an excellent trigger, and all I did was clean and lube.
Feeding problems are often caused by depth of inletting of the trigger guard or reciever not allowing the mag to sit high enough to feed properly.
Ever since I bought mine, I've been meaning to take up small game hunting again.
I would like to try some different ammo. I've heard that Wolf Match .22 is very accurate in the M69.

Trigger jobs are easy on these guns...I break the gun down and watch how the trigger works a couple dozen times. dremel polish wheel/file whatever a LITTLE bit and try it again. I have a digi trigger scale to monitor my progress. On my MN I just bent the spring and polished some things and it was down to 2 pounds. I dont like to take all my guns way down. No need to as long as its smooth it dosn't bother me. When I get to thinking I need a lighter match trigger I just take out one of the beater surplus guns for a day then when I get back to my match rifle its like "OH WOW" and I save money on buying equipment I thought I needed.

can someone take a pic of the parts, the ones visible when you pull out the bolt? i think i may have the rear part basicly smashed a little and maybe this is why its so bad, it looks really crudely milled

kevin

ok, took it apart and found a problem

the little piece on the back of the trigger is hitting the safety piece of the bolt, when i pull the trigger it stops and finnaly breaks and falls into the cut out part of the safety piece. I have to pull so hard on the trigger that the head of the rear part on the trigger is slightly mushroomed and really rough now.

Can i file this down a bit and not hurt anything? i dont understand what that part on the rear of the trigger does in the bolt. i just cant see whats going on well enough. I assume the part further forward is what lets the firing pin fly forward and not this rear piece?

i fixed it! i should have realized the only function of the stick on the rear of the trigger is the safety! just had to look it over more to see what was going on. I filed some off that stick and now its not hitting the safety knob part of the bolt when in the fire position. The trigger pull now is really light, smooth and crisp, maybe around 2 pounds or so!

Well I got playing last night with his rifle again, he was wanting me to take the scope off so he could use the iron sights,(like father, like son) but these rings sit high enough so he can look under the scope to use the irons, the scope is almost too high, but will work for now, plus I got to use and old scope and rings I had laying around, bonus!!
The scope I used was a 26mm so I think that helped keep it tight, cause your really loosening up the top screw and tightening the heck out of the bottom screw to get it to stay on, but it seems tight.

I do like the express-style flip up sight leaves, though I havn't tried it at 100 yards, yet. I used Millet angle-lok rings on mine. I bought them at Gander Mountain, and the gunsmith milled the lock pieces lightly so the would fit the narrow rib on my 1978 made M69. I used a cheap 4x32 Barska .22 scope, and it is a tack-driver with CCI mini-mag solids, my favorite all-around .22lr ammo.

Actully your wrong. If your trigger is great then watch out for the rest of the gun. Out of 4 I found the worked gun to be the most dangerous! Give me a minute and I'll try to get a pic. I got the pics but I'm not good at it here they are. So but this is the best I can do with a camers.
