Apparently we're "falling out of love with guns"......
Unfortunately my C&R log does not reflect this sentiment.........

eff that article. It would appear that this board is picking up the slack of the entire U.S. population in firearms and ammunition. I know my expenditues are WAY up, even with the increasing prices!

All you have to do on this stuff is do a little digging.
The study that he uses as a source in the article is from a National Opinion Research Center study. That study, "Public Attitudes Toward the Regulation of Firearms,” was funded by the Joyce Foundation. That foundation is a Chicago based anti-gun organization. Now I won't question the finding themselves, but the fact that the sponser is so anti-gun is enough reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Nice try though...
hah he's silly. He's never been to the Texas...

As steep as the ownership curve gets, many here maybe in the 99Th precenctile of gun owners. Dont take much when 2/3rds dont own guns, and many just have one or two firearms.

Who, and it what part of the country, did they poll??? I can imagine they polled "major" urban centers and got low numbers (ie: Seattle)...
It's funny how you can twist data to support any cause - it's all in the gathering of the data.
I don't remember getting polled - hahaha

50 Plus guns and rising. As we used to say in the Airborne, "They can kiss my skinny, @#$% fourth point of contact."

I just started really buying ammo. Finally figured out I had enough guns "i think" anyway ammo has been priority. Here in Alabama I think every other household has a firearm. On the downside they are nichey, "what do you need a ak-47 fer?" Why do you hunt with a machine gun? I hunt with my grandfathers, grandfathers shotgun and have had the same box of bullets sinece "76". This state has the most leanient gun laws but will be one of the first to pass a ban and won't even know it..... Am I off topic smell if I know:2pistol::sleepy::America::2pistol::rockon::sl eepy::sleepy::sleepy::sleepy:

As long as the "LIBs" believe what he's saying is true that's all that matters. I wonder if he took into consideration that the market is flooded right now and sales are slow. Oh who cares, as long as the Sheep are happy so am I.

The thing is, perhaps new hunting rifle/shotgun sales are stagnant at best…I’ve got 4 and that’s plenty, maybe that's where they are coming from, don't know. But I think the collector market is booming for other types of guns. C&R’s and surplus semis are all going up in price. The exception at the moment may be Mosin’s due to a flooded market, but that will change soon also.
So if supply and demand drives prices (market economics), going by this article “Americans are falling out of love with guns" I sure ain’t seeing it. Look at prices on most guns from a few years ago compared to today. If this were the case, prices on both guns and ammo should be going down not up…we know better. Ammo is skyrocketing for a number of reasons, but if demand for guns is declining, then demand for ammo would be too.

Well the biggest thing is the average person, not your friends, but the guy next door, does he have any interest in guns. Most of us run with folks that like firearms thus it seems the norm but these numbers come from folks with no firearms ownership or experience. I imagine there are many folks who forget they have firearms or guns when polled but there are a great many out there that are unarmmed.

DING! and this is a perfect example.
Nuckl...I'm there man. I spend more on ammo yearly than on guns...at least a little more.

Oh, my, where to begin? First of all, the gun toting minority outnumbers the mamby pamby non-gun owning majority, so someone's math is less than perfect. Secondly, this column sounds like wishful thinking on the part of the writer, who obviously is not only a moron, but a liberal one at that. Remember also, that journalists operate in their own self interest. They WILL put a slant on things to help inspire more stories, if you know what I mean... Why do you think they like liberals so much? If the liberals are elected, There will be more stories to report!!! that makes them all a bunch of JERKS!!!

Ultimately,it matters not a whit what "they" think, write,or say. I believe that we will be forced into revolution 3.1.1. What will matter is what we do. I believe that when we do what needs doing,at last, those who lave lived most of their lives with their heads way up their buccal orifices WILL finally understand.
best regards,
