That's the retaining screw for the buffer. It just takes a large screw driver, (The ones the CETME armorer used is 24 inches long). The screw is about 2 full inches long... Then it's muscle. After that one is off, then in the inside rear is a screw with a lock washer. Take that off and you should be able to wobble the wood stock off, while it looks crimped on, it really isn’t... I’ve never had one that I didn’t workup a sweat!

the stock that came with my kit was pretty gouged and in rough shape. I used a bandsaw and a sharp chisel to free the bolt from the stock. The stock bolt had seized up and i tried a large scewdriver first but could not even get it a little loose. hence the saw and chisel

I had the same problem also.I too planned on replacing my wood. You can get some nice sets on Gunbroker or better yet check on this site here, just bought me a set from Drine. So I took a chisel to my buttstock also. It seems the preferred method of dealing with this problem.Just my 2 cents.

Before resorting to the chisel, get a BIG ASS screwdriver that has a square shank near the handle and put a cheater wrench on it. It might take two people to do this operation as one needs to push like Superman on the end of the screwdriver and the other needs to turn the cheater. I took a 3/4" diameter piece of hardened steel rod 24" long and cut the head and part of the shank off a closed end wrench that fit the screwdriver's flats and welded that to the rod. When I chuck a receiver in the vise to remove a stock and put that set up on it, something is going to give!:icon_mrgreen:

after trying the big a** screwdriver and a wrench, i resorted to the chisel and saw and got the metal free, I did this because my stock was very gouged and thin when i started and so it was not worth the trouble to save.

Don't you dare throw those rocks. I had the plastic stock and it was easy to remove. Derrrrrr. It would probably have fallen off anyway.

what rocks drine? I got my kit from centerfire, and their service to me has been great. All the kits were from used rifles so obviously some are going to be better than others.
