I saw a brand new looking Norinco SKS at Gander Mountain tonight. What's the current value on these? They wanted $400 and that seemed a bit high. The bayonet still had a "made in china" sticker on it.

Sounds a little pricy to me, but someone might want it at that. Just at that number I would be passing for sure. I think they were looking for clean ones, maybe not new, but in the neighborhood of less than half of that at the last show I was at.

Bought it at a gun show in unfired condition.

$200 tops. Most people bought theirs for $99 at a gunshow out of huge cases of them.

Thanks guys. Seems like almost everything at this Gander Mountain is a little expensive. The only other outdoor store is so expensive they give small packs of vaseline away with each purchase.

The highest I've seen one was 279 for a really sweet brand new looking shorty. It had a blonde wood finish and I had an empty wallet...:icon_neutral:

$400 seems very high for a Norinco in any condition. But then, Gander Mountain is not usually the place for deals on such things. They don't know much about Milsurps and they usually over price them hoping that those who shop there don't know much either. Recently I saw several bad Milsurp deals there. The wanted $990 for a really rough 1898 Krag, $149 each for a bunch of very ordinary Mosin Nagants arsenal refurbs, and $850 for a very rough Chinese copy of a Garand. I have bought a few things there.
They sometimes have good used gun deals on older or high value sporting arms. I did spot a Marlin 1894 CBC (Cowboy Competition Carbine which is a variation that is no longer made and sold for $795 new). I bought it in new condition from them for $425.

I paid $350 for a 1951 Russian SKS. $400 is definately over the top.
This is a good place to check / ask about SKS prices:

Thanks y'all. I might just see if they will go down on the price. I don't need it anyway.

Take your time in looking, haunt gun shows, auctions and gun shops. I found my Paratrooper at an auction, dammit it was third to last lot there, and I had bought ten guns already at the auction, it made eleven I think. but got it for less than a yugo goes for by a third. I got my both of my sks d/m's here locally for the same price that standard sks rifles were bringing(but told the dealers to hold the magazines as its useally a good way to get some money off the rifles knocks fifteen to twenty bucks if you have plenty of them at home). Thus they are out there, there were new in the box type chinese rifles up in JC kansas, for a little over two hundred last time I was there, the dealer bought a couple of cases of them, had over twenty five, just needed to ask him as he kept them separate from his normal rifles. I just think if you keep the eyes open and look around you might find it where you never think to look.

I can find Norinco sks over here for $250-275 all day. Theres a pinned one in Livingston at a pawn shop w/o bayo or cleaning rod for $275 now. I is not unfired but in the best shape I have ever seen a Norinco. Thats what a 3-4 hour drive from you?

No, not really considering unless I could get it for a good price. It was in new condition so I wanted to know the going price for them. If it was a good price I would have picked it up, if not then I'll pass or maybe get them to come down. I haven't even made it back by there yet. Thanks for the help though.
