I like this forum. Lots of area for discussion. I love my bolt guns, but the ones I really can't stop touching are the k31's. 1950, 1941, 1933. I have one from each decade they were made. And all randomly ordered. Great rifles.

I picked mine up becuase I couldn't pass up the $100 rifle at Dunham's... didn't realize how damn accurate the things are till I actually took it out and was out shooting the guy with the brand new scoped Remington 700 next to me. That's always fun to do with Mil Surp.
Oh yeah, that's even a Swiss blanket it's resting on... found it at Fleet Farm a while ago.

Very nice fellas. This may be our new K31 hangout. Rumor has it Swissrifles.com is shutting down this summer.
That's some handsome wood! I love wood and all the surprises it holds. I got a FAL izzy stock with similar figuring a couple of weeks ago. Finished up nice also.

I am down to only 5 K31's now. I did have 9 but sold and traded a couple. The ones I have are 33,42,43,48, and a 58. The 58 has mismatched wood but all the others are all matching. I also have a 96/11 and actually like it the best.

Not sure why I bit on these other than the price...
No ammo within reason from best I can tell..
Never used in any combat...
I guess if I can find a good price on a Swiss sawback bayonet it will make for a unique wallhanger...

I don't know if they made a sawback for the K-31's... my plain old beat up bayonet cost $10 less than the rifle (actually was a gift, but you get the idea). And when I say beat up, I mean it looks like some 18 year old Swiss reservist had a little sword fight with his battle buddy... all sorts of knife on knife knicks along both edges.

Yes they did make a sawback for the K31. I just sold a 1914 sawback last week. Expect to pay big bucks for one. I have seen pristine ones for close to $300.

i had swore up and down i would never buy one due to the cost and lack of availability of ammo in the future, but a guy had one for sale locally, so i bought it.
well, i manned up and bought some of the ammo and finally shot it a couple weeks ago
i was pleasently suprised at how well it shot. im on the fence, but i will say that it is one of the most accurate guns i owf, if not THE most accurate milsurp i own - the trigger pull is fantastic on it (probably also the best out of my milsurps). The thing weighs alot and its hefty so recoil is minimal. The ammo is SUPER accurate, the stripper clip hoo hahs are really odd but work fantastic, and im happy i made the purchase even though you guys all told me i would enjoy it.
here is mine, i was told it was a ww2 gun but i dont know how to verify that - walnut stock with no toenailing and no tag unfortunately - came with the correct swiss sling, muzzle cover, and i think 6 or 7 of the stripper clip things, and it hasnt been scrubbed like ALOT of them i see.
also, the grain in the falo wood - i have a FN49 with the same pattern
i now own all three straight pull rifles - the swiss, the steyr 1895, and the canadian ross rifle

Perro,
You date the rifle from the serial number. Here is a link to the list of dates.

No problem, I have a 42 myself. It was the first one I got. I am down to only 5 of them now.

jfowl31,
Do you still have the original stock?
No I sold it. The original rifle had a mismatched barrel and that stock was absolutely horrid... the pic I have doesn't even do it justice. One of the worst beaver chewings Ive seen on one. I paid less for the Boyd's stock than I sold the Original for, so besides scope and mount, so far Im ahead on this rifle.

I think I'm gonna have to get me one here pretty soon. I was concerned with ammo and that's kept me from getting one. Are these really as accurate as everyone says??? I mean are they better than a good mauser?
I played with one at my local dealer...cool action for sure. I liked it, but the stock looked to be water damaged, was pretty ugly.
So who's got the nicest ones right now in stock???

Rampager,
If you want one you better get one quick. They are getting harder to find. As a rule they are very accurate. About the only mauser that I would say is consistantly as accurate as the K31 would be a Swede mauser.
