hey guys i was wondering if you knew anything about Norinco .308 rounds? my step dad and i just picked up 1000 rounds for $350, looks good, very consistant, 92 production. they seem to be copper coated or somethin, just wonderin how they will work in my cetme. 35cents a round seems to be a good deal to me seeing how .308 prices have gone through the roof. so did we make a good buy?

I imagine its steel cased, steel jacketed projectile(if not steel penetrator, mild I imagine not ap) ammunition. A broken shell extractor would be a good idea to get your hands on. I think the stuff was listed as non corrosive(not sure if it is or isnt, beware on that fact). I imagine it will act alot like the wolf discussed on the forum in this post.

The chinese made atleast two 308 rifles I can think of, the M1A(M-14) clones and the dragnov rifles in the caliber.

Was that an online purchase or did you find that at a gun store/show?

Sounds like a good purchase to me. Did it come in 20 round green "commerical-looking" boxes w/ white styrofoam block inside? I shot a ton (700+ rounds??) of that brand in 7.62x39 through my SKS with no probs to report.

However, the old SKS always seemed a little "dirtier" after shooting Norinco, but it scrubbed out OK. Maybe it was just the amount I shot per session because it was so darn cheap - hahaha

Nice find!

That's copper washed steelcase.

35cents a round is...a sign of the times. used to go for 10-15cents when other hi-quality milsurps like Argentinain, S.African, Aussie, Port, and RadwayGreen (Brit) were goingf for 18c per round.

In a CETME, it should cause zero difficulties. Perro once made a movie with Rickinvegas where they removed the extractor from the CETME bolt group, just to demonstrate that the flutes int he CETME chamber are enough to extract the case totally from the chamber ALL BY ITSELF.

I woulda never believed it if I hadn't seen it.

It also reinforeces the fact that to gett good extraction, you MUST keep the flutes in the chamber clean and neat.
