I thought it was about time to finally introduce myself.

I've been lurking over at the ol' Cetme site until it closed and established an account here recently.

Where do I begin?

Well,.....the name! It's a combination of the fact I am married to a full blooded Navajo lady and I am the "pale face". Most of our internet accounts are partnerships so as not to have to have two separate names. I doubt if she will ever make a post here so if anyone can remember it, you can call me Dale.

I am an avid firearms collector. Primarily the C&R types. I have the C&R license.

I do have an all black CETME and It absolutely LOVE the rifle.

I hail from central Arizona where I have lived for quite some time (I was born and raised in northeast Pennsylvania).

All of our kids are grown and out of the house although we do have five grandchildren.

I am retired and have been since December of 1999. I was fortunate to have been able to retire at age 50 so I have some valuable free time to enjoy my hobbies.

I am also an avid reloader and currently reload for about eight rifle calibers and six hand gun calibers.

We enjoy quad riding the hundreds of back country trails near our home. We have seen sights that only those on horseback or quads will ever see. (We have some trails here that even 4X4 jeeps can't make it on.)

I am a veteran of the Viet Nam War era and also a proud life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. In fact, I am the past and current Commander of my VFW post.

I might warn y'all I have a sense of humor but I have been told it's sometimes a dry sense of humor and it's sometimes hard to tell when I am joking and when I am being a smart arse! So, if I appear out of line feel free to say something and I will clarify it if I was just joking around or I will apologize for having been a butt head. I will make every attempt, though, if I am joking around or just making a facetious comment I will try to put emoticons along with the post to clarify it.

Well, I probably have bored you enough for one day.

I like the looks of this site and the 'personalities' of the members and I am looking forward to learning great things here.

Dale

Why are there so many avid gun guys from AZ? I lived in Phoenix when I was 10. Man what a playground for a kid so I'm sure it equates to the same for adults. Welcome aboard.

Thanks...so I actually have to dig up ihis DD-214 to get my legaion papers re-sent?

Lemme explain how this all happened:

My dad was stationed in Darmstadt Germany from 60-63, doing 'stuff' fer the USAF that later became the DoD. Well, a few years back, the US decided that anyone on active duty in Europe during the Cold war from about the end of VN to Russia's going out of business sale is a VFW. So my papers showed up. Then I lost them in the shuffle of a divorce.

I guess what you're saying is the best method.

His dad served in WWII in europe, PPL heart recipient.

His Dad's Dad Served in WWI with the AEF in France, two PPL hearts (well, 'wound chevrons')

Thanks!

First off, :woohoo-1: :welcome1: :woohoo-1: It is always nice to have another guy from Arizona. I am a lot like you in that I retired last year at 54 and it is marvelous except having to do everything the wife wants done. Cuts in on the range time. Keep a eye open on the regional posts as several of us are planning a shoot here in the state on a sunday in April before it gets too hot. Glad to have you aboard, expecially another reloader. By the way, take a look at Norton's "man room" (politically correct) with all his reloading and casting equipment. Make me want to remodel the house!

The reason that there are so many gun guys here is that as far as we are concerned, this is still the "Wild West" and open carry is legal and has been for many years. Tombstone had to pass a law NOT to carry for obvious reasons. We have many different groups that shoot everything from air gun to .50 cal. and all have a tremendous following. Big game hunting is a major source of income for this state and we are one of the few states where our Fish and Game department is totally self sustaining and actually makes a profit. The funds cannot be taken either, so they go back into wildlife, range improvements, shooting range upgrades, etc. Our Ben Avery range is an excellent example. It now has 94 shooting lanes on the public range alone and has a waiting list on the weekends of several hours, even in the summer when the devil comes to visit. This range is completely run by Fish and Game and actually makes a profit. It has a public range, a small bore range, an indoor air gun range, a 1000 yd high power range, a pistol silhouette range, a rifle silhouette range, a PPC range, a LEO range, an Olympic venue range (running boar, rapid fire pistol flip tartets) an archery range with a desert walk 'n shoot, and one of the finest clay target ranges in the country offering trap, skeep, 5 stand, wobble, Olympic pit and skeet, and sporting clays. It is open from sunrise to sunset and the clay target ranges all have lights. Our legislature is very pro-gun except for the implants from Kali that move here and suddenly find themselves in the unarmed minority. The majority of the people in this state are also very much "pro-USA" and doen't believe in liberalism and the loss of rights. If you can stand 3 months of the year living in the heat (it's a dry heat) then the other 9 are marvelous. You can go from scrub desert to snow capped mountains in two hours drive. And besides, if you come out here you can see the worlds biggest hole (Grand Canyon) unless my mother-in-law is visiting. Then it becomes the second largest hole in the state. (LOL0

WElcome to the forums. Like planning mentioned there's several vets here. I'm a member of VFW and a life member of DAV. More we have a lot in common, I'm 'engaged' to a cherokee (Not just a crazy lady with a house full of fingerhut Wolf stuff).

/Now if you can wait two decade or so, I'll be retired also!
