I sent in all my paperwork for a C&R about 3 weeks ago, along with a mailed copy to the local Chief of Police. This afternoon the letter to the Chief's office came back to me, my city's C.O.P. retired on Feb. 28, The attached letter said that no approvals for FFLs or concealed carry permits were being processed until a new Chief had been chosen and sworn in. :cuss:
I'm wondering if can I just resend the stuff to the County Sheriff instead? I live in the city limits, but the Sheriff is much more of a public figure than the C.O.P. ever was, hell nobody I talked to even knew who he was, much less that he was going to retire.
It takes so darned long to process by the Fed's I never expected to have any trouble with the local part of the approval. In fact I thought all the local PD did was hold it on file.

i would go to the next immidiate cheif law enforcer and get him to sign it and then send it out to the atf. 1 week after you get charged for the c/r get an e-mail off to the atf and ask why it is taking soooooo long!

i waited months and then e-mailed them, BAM 3 days later i got it priority mailed. keep at them! make them pay attention to what you want. talk about customer support.?????:wtfflag:

You don't need his "permission" all you are doing is letting him know that you are getting the C&R. If you live in city limits your supossed to go through them.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll go down to the business office and see what one of the senior captains says.

Your sending a copy of the application to the responsible law enforcement department solely allows them an input into anything they might have to say in the matter.

It is not a requirement that they say anything.

I'd send it only to the respective department/agency and if they are waiting on someone to take the helm that's their problem not yours.
