I believe it! I am one that was dead against "The plastic gun" when it first got popular. Now I like them, the only thing now is trying to convince me to carry one cocked and loaded on me. I still like having a hammer in some cases (old habits are hard to break). :744:

I could never do that to a gun, but If I had to bet my life on a gun it would be a Glock. You guys can make fun of the plastic gun if you want.

In a SHTF senerio , If I had a rifle and hand gun to pick from it would be my AK and glock. No questions asked, two of the most well designed firearms built on ruggedness and simplicity.
I know I'm going to catch crap from 1911 fans, before I do I'm a huge fan of 1911s, before I do I based my choice on reliablity.

no crap from over here... I love just about all handguns, but would only trust my life to a select few... right now the Glock is what I carry daily.
AK AJ, On Glocktalk, the typical response to your post is that you should carry your Glock for a week cocked without one in the chamber... if the trigger is EVER back, then your suspicions are confirmed. The Glock was the only gun to pass the FBI drop tests...
Ive read that thread a few times, and its absolutely amazing! Possibly the best torture test EVER.
Only change Id make to your choices AK AJ, is that maybe depending on the scenario, I might chose a 12-guage over the AK.

I've carried the Glock for 15 years now, (When the Department paid for them), It even replaced my Colt Series 70 for off duty. When we went to an AR Patrol rifle, they sold off the 870's to the old farts 1st. So I got one. A good close defense weapon. But I got to say that if the SHIF I'd want my RRA M-4. I like my AK's But with my Tac vest, I can carry a crapload of ammo for my M4 and Glock at the same time... Course I'd think about putting a pistol grip on the 12 gauge 870 and carry it on a combat sling across the back. Makes a handy door key!!!

He don't like his Glock very much at all does he?
I couldn't do that to one of my pistols.
He should go to work for the Government testing the new service pistol.:1106:

The government's more worried about ambi mag releases, ambi slide releases, and external safeties............ That guy (Big Bore on Glock talk) did it just to do a real test on the Glock to see if it could stand up to the hype. Everyone hears stories that you can store it in salt-water... he wanted to try it himself. He still shoots that pistol to this day and claims its very accurate. What was it... the only thing that broke was the stock plastic sights right?
If I had an extra one laying around, and the means to test a pistol like that, Id probably do it myself too... but Id like to have more pistols in the same test to document if Sigs or HK's or say a Kimber 1911 can withstand such a beating. He did that a little bit, but not enough in my opinion.
Somebody want to donate a Sig, an HK, and a 1911, and Ill get my hands on a Glock... Ill run the tests and film it all... Of course I would also need you to buy another one of each so I would have a "control" to compare with, which of course I would have to keep in the end. :)

WTS: Glock 21 Like New In Box (a box of....)
Slightly used (like a Boys Town AARP pro)
Bought for minor testing and never carried (except in the airplane I threw it out of)
Minor erosion (due to Nazi Death Camp experimentation and abuse above and beyond that which even Ike Turner could dish out)
$400 obo (or however much I have to pay YOU to take this steaming pile of Austrian refuse off my hands)
3-Day inspection (which is long enough for me to vacate my apartment and lose your email address)

Its tough to call it a steaming pile when it still works.............................

I wouldnt mind doing that do a gun if I didn't have much in it and I was curious as to its tolerance to abuse. A gun to me is a mechanical object that is expected to perform...if it doesn't perform the way I want it to...it gets some work done to it (Bubba'd if you so like)...if I want to see what it is capable of...I run it through its paces and beyond if needed.

I ran 1000 rounds straight through my Glock with no malfunctions before I would carry it and trust my life on it.
passed with the first 1000 rounds through it, and has never failed since then either... a few more thousand rounds later. Im just starting to get her broken in.

I followed this guys glock "treatment" on ARFCOM. I could never bring myself
to mistreat anything like this but it is impressive that it survived. I thought the polymer frame would have been cracked at the very least.

If I had a spare that I didn't mind testing I would
but it would break my heart to abuse a firearm so, but it is nice to see what one could take
