hi guys, looking into optics cuz i dont like the open sights. seen a red-dot on ebay. from honk kong of course. is the term claw mount right for the way they attach to the top of the receiver? i just read something about bolt carrier binding up... i dont know if everyone elses are like mine, but i have this extra material on my receiver, is that where its supposed to mount to? or are those like stops for the claws. sorry i didnt look for optics stickys, so i am sure i am rehashing what others have said....so i apologize. so any takers?

yes those are the scope mounting points
and I cant tell too good from that particular picture, but it looks like it has the rear saddle with that G3 sight, which means you should be good to go on scope mounting and it staying put
as far as the "clones" go, I can't comment. a link might help if you got one for the clones.

I have a Aimpoint clone, it works well, I haven't shot that much with it, but haven't had any problems, it is all metal.

ah ok. i wont buy one. so do you actually mount the scope on the built up material on top o the receiver, or do you mount it forward of it?

its not really "built up material" its stamped that way with those "rises" in the steel.
The feet actually clamp underneath those bumps and friction holds it in place on a stmped Cetme. If you have a G3 or a cast SS Cetme, there is a "saddle" in front of the rear sight that stops the mount from sliding fore and aft.

Example of current Ebay Auction for Aimpoint Clone (http://cgi.ebay.com/G-P-R-G-Dot-Scope-QD-Cantilever-Engraved-for-Aimpoint_W0QQitemZ370025293925QQcmdZViewItem?hash= item370025293925)
These are even marked with the Aimpoint logo AND include a throw lever mount for less than $60 to your door from Hong Kong (less than $40 without the throw mount). And they actually work pretty darn good too. How can you beat that?
