I decided that I could not wait for the gun show and got this at the local gun store for $84 with tax. I had to clean the bore for about 2 hours to get out all of the copper and carbon, but the rifling is clear and the metal fairly bright.
The stock appears to be Tula made circa 1940, with the rest of the rifle being Izzy. The bolt had a little surface rust, however, a little Naval Jelly got rid of that. Overall I am very pleased with it. Just need to go to the range now.

Does anyone know what a good asking price is on a 91/30 bayonet? I got one with the rifle, but I do not need or want it. Thought I might sell it at a gun show.

Private Fuzzy, if the number matches from the bayonet, I would think about keeping it. If matching along with the other parts of the rifle makes the whole package more of a value to a collector if you ever want to sell it. That said its a good looking rifle, I think you did ok on the deal.

The majority or all of the numbers do not match, including the bayonet.

Mosins were designed to be fired with the bayonet on

The Russians still believed in cold steel more than accuracy, and their rifles were zeroed with bayonets on

I would keep it

I would keep it, but it is very hard to get on and off. There is already a little bit of finish removed from the end of the barrel and I do not want to scrape off any more.

i had the same dilemma, so i just resighted it for use without the bayonet. besides, the gun is long and unwieldy enough as it is!
