It is said do not fear the night, fear what hunts at night. Well I require some knowledge from all of you. I need to add night sights to my Bushmaster AR-15. The reason being that I cannot make out the sights on my rifle in low light conditions. Any prices, opinions, or real world experience would be of tremendous help in my decision. Thank you for all your help.

I've never tried them on a rifle, but they are on all my serious handguns.

The front sight is the most important for any shooting, and especially at night. Some professionals will actually tell you not to even worry about the rear sight in low light/no light conditions, and I can tell you from experience that gunfights in low light are a completely different animal. I was doing simunitions with the local police and I exchanged fire with one of the officers from about six feet. We both emptied our weapons, and I was able to escape while he was reloading. I didn't have a reload for my revovler, so I just booked it, literally ran into another officer, he didn't even realize I was a bad guy, and ducked out of the room. No hits scored on either party, from six feet no less. Granted neither of us had night sights on our weapons.

If you're serious about it, there are drop in tritium front posts all over the place from anybody with real tactical accessories (not airsoft stuff), and that would be the best start. I've seen rear sights that have a plain peep and flip to the large peep with a tritium dot at the bottom, but I don't know how much that would help.
Overseas I simply glued a peice of glow in the dark tape to my front sight post and hit it with a bright flashlight when I expected trouple.

How about adding a night-vision optic to the rifle?

There's also the adjustable brightness red dot option as well.
