Hello,
after splitting a case the other day , i started searching on ways to remove the case i read where you could try a 45 cal brush didnt have one of them but had a 50 cal for my black powder rifles tried that it didnt work , read where you can jam a 12 ga brush in the case tried that and it didnt work , then i read where some one broke 2 extractors on a case from trying to hammer the case out of the chamber well i went ahead and ordered 2 extractors and received them to day Man thats the best 10.00 bucks i ever spent.. so i go get my mallet and insert the extractor first pull on the charging handle didnt do anything but remove the extractor put it back in and cycled the bolt but let it charge home pulled back on the handle and the extractor and case popped right out didnt even have to use the mallet .

here is some pics of the case as well as a couple other nato brass cases that i cut into to see how thick the brass is , i found another WCC 79 and fired it and cut it in half to see how thick it was compared to the one that failed .

cleaned the rifle went out and ran 40 rounds through the rifle , it ran perfect

If I'm looking at the pic right, the WCC is much thinner than the NATO case.
Is this right? Glad you got it out.

Dayum! The WCC case looks less than half the thickness of the NATO case. I guess I'll really think twice about commercial ammo in mine.... if I ever get it together. :D

NICE info... Id like to know for sure what commercial brands have thicker brass... seems to be some conflicting opinions in that area. I think I may have to resort to shooting commercial here pretty soon. Ive got a shite-load of commercial cases waiting to be reloaded.

Anybody know anything about the thickness of black hills ammo? How about the nickel Winchester casings?

Ts, was that wcc79 a new load or had it been reloaded? Just a question if there had been any reason for streaching or thinning that close to the base.

shows that .308 does not equal 762NATO.

Thanks for the pic of the shell extractor in use! I've got one, but never had to use it.

Remember, TS...keep the flutes in that chamber clean to reduce the lielyhood of a case head separation.

as Perro demonstrated, ALL CETME and HK extraction problems are due to didty flutes, nothing really to do with the extractor on the bolt assy.

We'll have to hit Perro up for the vid where he takes the extractor off the bolt head, and the CETME still floats the brass outta the chamber, just by the flutes! You have to see it to believe it.
