Quotes:
"If we were really at war, if we were in a depression, people wouldn't be wasting their time with this stuff...but because we're not, you know, it's easy to look at every little thing that bothers you."
"Attempts by the government to modify public behavior have a long history, from Prohibition in the '20s to safety belt laws in the '80s and smoking bans in the '90s. In recent years, lawmakers have increasingly focused on food."

Why can't these same people apply as much effort into something useful such as the enviroment or global warming. You have to wonder about lawmakers that have time to discuss the merits of cooking oil and how it applys in today's society for the protection of people. How about a law saying that you can't use live ammo in a firearm when you are confronted by an attacker. That way we can save both lives. (Yeah, right.)

I really dont understand how the same people who want to use the force of government to control others champion the idea of a free country.
Whats free about any of this???

If we really wanna stop this BS, we need a reduction in lawmakers....they make use more the criminal every day! That ain't freedom.
"useful such as the enviroment or global warming"
-->Yeah, bet if they shut their collective pie-holes, there'd be a lot less global warming! :)
[I'll letcha in on a little thing--'global warming' as it is packaged and sold to us is largely a hoax. The Sun influences the heat of the earth more than any manmade stuff...it is sheer hubris (to use the Greek term) to think we're that impactful... The sun goes thru cycles...also, the surface temps of the other planets close to the sun (or a bit farther out than us) have also been rising, withought any industrial pollution that can be observed...
20-25 years ago, there were articles worrying about an upcoming 'global cooling' cycle...]
Hope this don't offend.

Steely, not offended at all. We have been sold chocolate covered :bull: from our government for a large number of years. It amazes me that the government does not believe that the American public should know the truth about problems. Granted there are things that need to be kept top secret, but overall way to much info is suppressed from us, supposedly due to the fact that it is for our own good. How the hell do these mental midgets know what is good for you or me? I know we elected these people, but the majority of the public would rather walk around stuipd and not knowing that the "Big Green Weenie" is after them and thinking that the government will protect them instead of preparing on their own. Can't believe that they are more worried over cooking oil than securing our borders or any of the other major problems that we are confronted with.
