Every now and then, I see for sale a green label, CAR15 with the reinforced fence on the right receiver. :eek:
I have heard that these were right before the 1989 ban and that not many were made (500?) in each of .223 and 9mm. :rockon:
WHO KNOWS THE STORY BEHIND THESE?

AGG1, are you talking about, green box labeled colts?

Check this, but I know there is a better one out there(or this one changed)

the green label and the blue label ar's are considered to be among the best that colt ever made. the only big difference between the two is that the green labels have the bayo lugs. the blue labels don't. not sure how many of the greens were made but i'm pretty sure it was a hell of alot more than 500. not many of the white lables were produced, so they may be a bit rare. i've seen and shot quite a few of the green lable ar's. when they removed the bayo lugs from the greens they started putting the blue lables on them. the blue lables were the ones made right before the assualt weapons ban, which was in 1994, not in 1989. i have two of the blue lables and after 10 years of shooting them i've only had one failure to feed. due to a bad magazine. colts color coding can be quite confusing somtimes but can usually give you a good idea when it was made.

I realize that there were 1000's of green label R6520's/R6450's without the reinforced fencing!!! :rolleyes:
I am asking about the few that were produced in 1989 with the reinforced fencing. :rockon:
There were blue labels with the bayo lugs- 1990 to 1993? (but small receiver holes) with the preban serialization (GC/TA).
These and the ones that I am referring to I thought were made for law enforcement but made it to civies.

Hey, that was some good info. I may just look for one at the upcoming gun show next weekend. What would a fellow expect to pay for a green box colt?

i just sold ( in feb) some of the last 9mm colt that were made before the 1994 ban. i bought several of them and one of them was made the day after the ban went into effect. the other's were made the day before the ban went into effect.

1 of them a friend of mine has and the other's went to a collector.

i think i still have a couple of the mags for them somewhere.

it is one of the rifles i wish i had kept at least one of them.

1. R6450 (slab side with no shell deflector or reinforced fence posting)/$1,750.00-$2,000.00;
2. R6450 (shell deflector and reinforced fence posting)/$2,250.00-$2,750.00;
3. R6520 (as 1.)/same;
4. R6520 (as 2.)/same.

Some value the 9mm (R6450) $100.00-$250.00 more than the .223 (R6520).
