With the finishing of my Khyber Pass Build I am about done with the builds I wanted to do. This is my collection now. I built every one of them. Five from flats! I shared this on the AK Forum. Hope you guys enjoy the pics too.

My First Romy. Took three tries to get the flat right!

Then came my "Polish stage".
Did a Polish UF and then a fixed stock and then another UF. The last UF was my first try at hot bluing.

And finally my KP Build.

What can I say? My safe is jam packed with great range toys.

Building your own is a great hobby!

Looking back, I have had alot of fun doing this for the past couple years. Now I need to make time to sight them in on a 100 yard range! :icon_biggrin:

I just realized a bit ago that I left one out. My Romy UF.

All the building/finishing was done by me in my home shop. I built my own heating/bluing stand and SS tanks. Even the hot blue solution is home made from a recipe on the internet. I have a 18" x 5 x 5 SS restaurant pan I use for parkerizing. My little HVLP spray gun and airbrush both do moly and GC well. A few of my tools are home made but most are from ABK.com.

Good Lord no.

I just happened to call Centerfire the morning they found that kit in their container of horrid $79 kits when they last had them on sale a while back. I asked Lois if she had any kits with "good" carvings on them. They were passing around and admiring Sara just then. For $20 extra, she became a hand pick for me!

I really lucked out with that kit. The bore was excellent too. That soldier loved that rifle. There's a poem to her carved into the other side of the stock exalting her in Serb language! I posted it on a forum a while back and somone was able to roughly translate it. Left us wondering if the soldier who did it was exalting Sara the woman or Sara the rifle? Interesting.

When I built it on a NDS I just "preserved" it vice refinishing and restoring as I usually do. But it does have all the 922r parts it needs. Receiver, GP, MB, FCG. The furniture I just gently cleaned and applied one rubbing of tung oil to re-seal it. I cold blued the receiver too instead of firing up my hot bluing tank. That cold blue looks very close to the slightly worn bluing that was already on it.
