With ammo cost hurting my pocket book I did like a lot of fellers and picked me up some Tech Sights for the ruger 10/22

But I was wanting just alittle bit more...

I was really anxious to see what this rifle could do. The rear sight goes to 300 yards.
I tried a variety of ammo and ended up with Remington Target working the best.
This is an 8 inch ShootNC target set up at 200 yards...

At least you can see the target at 200 yards. That's good shooting.

For a .22 that's amazing. Longest I've done and actually expected good groups is maybe 50 yards, and my NRA qualifications were shot at 50 ft.
At 100+ yards it's fantastic to just hit the target, let alone punch them into the black. Great little rifle there!

nice shooting! 200 yards can be a bit of a stretch for a .22, I usually don't go past 100

I was the same way until I seen this rifle...
It was made in 1929, has a Lyman front sight that flips from a post to "globe" (for the lack of a better word). The rear sight is not marked but has patten dates to the early 1900's.
Wind is a major major factor with the .22lr at that range. I would HATE to try and shot it at 300 which is what the sights go up to... BUT I would still like to try:icon_biggrin:
With the stamps on the stock I knew it had to be military. I thought it may had come for CMP, I started talking to some fellers on the net and they comfirmed that those rifles where sold by CMP at one time and come to find out there are a variety of different versions of this rifle. From what I have found out there is an A, B, C, & D. As far as the differences I can not be sure. There was one that had a redesigned bolt another that was a single shot.
Finding parts is a headache. The only thing I can find are mags...I cant find firing pins, extractors, or anything else to do with the bolt. I have found the rear sight on ocasions but they are usually incomplete.

200 yards is a worthy range for a target and non target .22 rifle.
Our club holds "mini palma" matches at 200 yards often. Its a great way to learn to read the wind. I've shot rimfire at 300 yards so it can be done but you REALLY have to watch the wind at that range. at 200 yards with the rifle I shoot you keep the guys in the pits going down in spotter size from 3" to 1" then to the golf tee. I've accounted for at least 40 golf tees over the years. they blow up nicely. : )
