On the old board, there were pictures of members CETME's that had "replica" MARS "type" buttpad.
Does anybody know where to find them/one? Or maybe even an original?

I beleive that was shari71. I also think the new user name is wildbillcody. Could be wrong though :)

I dont know if he sells the MARS repros, but shoot him a PM and ask, or Im sure he'll reply here after a while.

I received an email reply from WildBillCody, clarifying that he has original style repro's and that it was MWDG3 who had the MARS repro's. However, it appears as though MWDG3 did not (yet?) make it over here to the new board, or at least not with the same screen name.:(

Made it! I no longer have these made. At some point, soon I hope, I'll put the mold up for sale. If someone buys it the MARS repros will be back.

Just to try and prevent some sticker shock for anyone interested in the mold, here is a foto of the base. It was professionally machined from tool steel.

MWDG3, What sort of production run did you have to contract for to get those run? I know there are custom injection molding shops to do that sort of thing, but with the removeable insert for each part, I imagine you did pay a little extra for each one.

100 each run. This is a compression mold. You put a small amount of rubber, synthetic in my case, in each cavity and heat it to 300 degrees. All this while the mold is in a 50,000 lbs press. Since rubber doesn't compress, if you put in too much material the mold will blow.

Compression molds are cheaper to make, by about 1/10th over injection. Piece products from injection molds are cheaper to make by around 1/5th.
