Hello guys, Im new to these forums and i may be getting a cetme soon. I have a question about the flash hiders on these rifles, If you have a Cetme style break on the barrol is it possible to remove it and install an hk style birdcage flash hider? or did century weld them on like they did with the WASR rifles? Thanks for any info.

I think this will answer your question.

they are removeable with just a little bit of work, but it's not all that difficult. however, if you replace the brake with an original HK or CETME flash hider, it will mess up your parts count. I would reccomend you use a US made repro flash hider that looks like the original, like the ones SSwee makes. That way you don't have to hassle with your parts count.

IGF MADE a us made flash hider. Ive been waiting almost a full year now for them to make more! Im still on this list though waiting and waiting and waiting. Right now im using tin floorplates on my mags for compliance, they look like crap but work.

I received an email from IGF today that said they were still out of stock on both the G3 and CETME flash hiders, and still waiting for a production run.

I bought one from SSwee here on the board. Save the time and go with his. That's what I did and have been happy with it.

So if I scrubbed the paint on my CIA brake and I don't see any pins, IS it soldered on?

There is usally a pin near the rear of the brake at the 6 o'clock position. Sometimes thay are hard to see even when you grind there. After you grind that area and if you still don't see it, try turning the gun over and tap the top (at 12 o'clock) of the MB with a hammer. Sometimes this force will help loosen the pin and start it out using gravity to help.
Of course when you grind on the MB be careful as not to go into the barrel.
After you get the pin out, you can try using a long thin screw driver, sticking it through the MB holes and turn it. That or a pipe wrench. Another option is to grind to flats onto the MB and turn it with a cresent wrench.
