Went to the Gunshow at St.Charles Convention Center. Nice 500 table gunshow.
Checked out the ARs for 550$ each, that they had there. I thought before I bite on one of those, I would go check out my friend BobIn
St.Louis.
He had several tables there, mostly Mosins and Enfields. I have bought a M-44,a M-38,and a ALby SKS from him in the past. He had some nice FN-49s,but they were all gone.
Bob is the Spanish pistol Mod at Gunboards, and heavily into Spanish weapons. Saw he had a very nice FR-8,1956 all matching with pristene looking chamber and bore. Finish and wood are outstanding! Some tigerstriping on one side. The only ones I have seen around here before this have been beaters.
So the AR will have to wait.
Bob gave me a GREAT price and I took it home. I can't wait to get it to the range! Thanks again Bob!
Cleaned and oiled it up, and hit the stock with some Howards Feed and Wax.

Bought one from Bob a while back. Great guy to deal with. Did you check out the Destroyer Carbines he has?

Indeed I did. Though honestly they don't do much for me.
I wanted a 7.62 x51 bolt action since I sold my sporterized Enfield carbine to a friend.
I stocked up on the SA ammo just in the nick of time.
I have added a M-14 and a FAL recently,so the bolt gun may hopefully slow my ammo consumption down a bit.

I missed that or you had already grabbed it. Good score for sure....Bob's table is always the first stop for me at any gun show.

Woodman, Bob told me no more Mo.Valley Collectors Assoc.shows at the Stratford!
Man I am bumming! That show was about 5 mins. down the highway from me.
Seems the Stratfords owner jacked the rates for tables so high,no one in the Assoc. thinks it will be profitable.
The Stratfords owner may do some shows on his own.
Beef jerky and Beanie Babbies anyone?

K98...great looking FR-8! I have one too, one of the coolest looking bolt actions ever made, right next to the enfield jungle carbine IMHO.

I passed on them when they were $150 (about 15 years ago). Finally found one at the show in Austin. Looked new or arsenal refinished. All matching #'s. Bright bore. Clean wood. Complete cleaning kit. $225. WOW! Score! It's a great shooter, companion to HK-91 and CETME.
