Took my SR 96/11 out today to try another load at 300 yards. The rear sight on the 96/11 starts at 300 and I have been working to get a load to hit within a 7 inch bull when aiming at 6 oclock. Well today I got 5 out of 7 in the bull. The scoped rifle guys were quite impressed that I was able to do that with iron sights. Looks like I will be watching that deer crossing with the 96/11 this year if I can keep this up.

That's great, what load did you cook up for it? Were the scoped guys shooting deer hunting rifles?

44 grains of IMR4350 and cheapo remington 180 grain soft points. The other guys were shooting bull barrel rifles. They are good guys and we shoot together all the time. I swear the one guy will play with the same rifle till he about burns the barrel out then move to another. They can't be happy with one good load they have to keep playing around. I guess if I had the time and money I would do the same. I would love to chase one hole around but I just don't have the patiance. Give me a scoped rifle that will do under an inch at 100 and stay MOA out to 300 and I am pretty happy. Give me one that will do under MOA and I am really tickled.
