I would have to if the basis is a 1919 action. Looks inspired by the conversions of the aircraft guns to close combat weapons during the second world war.

They're advertising it as a "what if they would have stuck with the 1919 instead of going to the 240" kinda thing. Supposed to swap out with no mods to the weapon, so not Bubba.

TNW got a great review in SGN recently, for their semi-MG builds.

I'll say the same thing I said on the 1919 board:

WTF?!

Yeah, what if they hadn't lost 25 lbs going to the 240. Wimpy combat guys anyway.......they should have just sucked it up....:sterb126:

they were selling the conversion over on weaponeer. uses a 1919a4

The M230 consists of a lightened .308 barrel with flash hider, innovative front shroud assembly with threaded mounting holes, custom rails, bipod, carry handle, folding front sight, FN style butt stock assembly and FN style pistol grip assembly with safety. The weapon retains the ability to be fired from a tripod or pedestal.

The upgrade takes about twenty minutes to install and requires no permanent modifications to your 1919.

Once installed the Browning has the feel of a modern weapon such as the M240 and this system works on both semi-auto and class III (BATFE RULES APPLY). It's easy to install by unscrewing your old barrel and shroud, and screwing on the new barrel and shroud.

You bring up a good point... Combat firearms used to be much heavier than they are now. Also, our troops were much stronger, physically, than they are now. I'm all for being nice to our guys in uniform, but I think we've crossed the line into the "coddling" area. "Oh, you're rifle's too heavy? Oh, let us develop a lighter one..." Never mind that if one of our troops ever has to punch a bad guy in the face, he might just get laughed at.

what kind of data do you have to back that up? :rolleyes:or is it the same bs that has been around for 200+ years.:sparta: there is always going to be new tec. the old guys like there stuff better and every one was tuffer and meaner. i'll bet todays military are just as tuff, mean, maybe smarter as the last group and the group before them..:icon_biggrin:

My sarcasm has sparked yet another debate. I've fired both. As a close quarters squad weapon, the 240 would be more practical by far. But then I can't buy into either being a close quarters weapon of choice,,,, guess it depends on whose definition of close quarters we go by. My tounge in cheek remark was meant to be my opinion of how overthought this thing is. I think it is somewhere between horizontal and vertical, midway between real and tacticool...

Oh and as far as tough troops, I think todays Marines are just as tough as any other generations. They fight different, they move faster, but they still, for the most part, have every bit as much going on for them.

OORAH!!

For the weekend warrior who wants a toy that "looks like" what they use now I guess this would fit the bill to a point but the 1919 box by itself is heavy, adding a stock grip and foregrip?? I'm thinking its going to be to cumbersome for most. Be kinda cool to shoot it once at the range just to get a better idea how its set up. the barrel set up peaked my interest. What they need is that detachable ammo can/link catcher one of the guys designed out of a 30cal can on the 1919a4 boards

<------ my 1919a6 is hard to shoot prone though with the awkward way the stock is set up but on the Sokolov and slightly under the gun its easy to use so long as the weight is supported by something else other than yourself.
