Sure I missed it somewhere in my search so apologies if it’s been answered already but can you build a cetme from a parts kit and a Century FAC G3 receiver? :1087:

Yes you can. The difference Is that the G3s sight system is adjusted from the rear sight, and the CETME is adjusted from the front. So if you use the G3 reciever on a CETME kit you'll have an adjustment in both front, and rear. If you use a CETME reciever with a G3 kit you'll have an adjustment nowhere.

You'll need to get a G3 rear sight because the CETME rear sight won't work unless you grind off the rear sight base.

Just to clarify, you're not talking about one of those aluminum monstrosities with the weaver rail on top are you?

Pass on the FAC receivers.
I have one (one of the springfield armory SAR-8s, same as the FAC).
Its not worth it, too may potential problems.
Since the receiver is aluminum, the parts don't go together the way they were designed to on a steel receiver. Where they are normally welded, the trunnion must be pinned into the aluminum receiver, and the cocking tube pinned or welded to the front site tree.
You can't put a paddle release on.
Wide forearms won't fit without a lot of grinding.
Some people have reported a loosening of the pins in the trunnion, which is a problem.

At best, the aluminum receiver is a crap shoot. (quote from somebody at arfcom, but I couldn't have said it better)

BTW, one of these I'll do a whole right up and save it on my pc as a .txt file and just copy and paste it whenever one of these threads show up.

But to answer your question, you can build one. It will require completely different build technique to do it, because you aren't welding anything to the receiver, but you need to pin the trunnion in the right spot, and I have no idea how you'd go about doing that.

100 % correct if it is an aluminum receiver stay away. there have been many reports of problems with those guns
