Hello,

well ive had the rifle a week now went through a split case ,, ok so i know how to deal with that now ,, so ive fired about 150 rounds through this dog ,
so it has been hitting 3 inches high and 3 inches to the left , on the hitting left there's no doubt the rear sight is welded off centered i can see that clearly ,, so i move to the front to adjust the impact down , i backed out the set screw and used a set of tweezers to move the front sight post only to find out that the front sight is stripped out well i went and got a spent small rifle primer out of a 5.56 and dropped in into the sight hole tighten up the sight post and went out to shoot , at 100 yds it was dead on shooting from a bench only 3-4 inches left ,, i think i will try a post from a AR15 in the sight block as the Cetme sight post is bearly touching the set screw as it wont fall out but you can push it side to side so i can make a fix for that .
i think i see why so many of you guys are scoping the Cetmes the sights are screwed up comming out from Century , Century must have some real Plumbers working for them ,, anyway i bought one of the short tactical scope mounts and got it yesterday i dont like it for me it's not up to what i would use so i will sell it , ive had Ken Farrell make me moa rails for other rifles so i will have him make me a 8 inch rail and i will reweld the rear sight as well as the 8 inch rail to the top of the receiver ..

and now to the last Gremlin when i shoot the rifle it doesnt happen all of the time but the charging handle will flop open when it does that the bolt will not lock up , if i put my thumb on the cocking handle when i fire the rifle run like a bat out of !!!

so far ive bought 50 G3 mags , a Bayonet lug & Bayonet

i havent bought ant replacement parts yet thinking of just buying a CETME .308 7.62x51 Replacement Parts Kit. for 199.00 any comment on that to have spare parts .

Thanks for any replies

I am going through the new to me CETME blues in that I have a broken shell in my rifle. I know I should remove it using the proper tools and I am going to have to anyways. I can't "catch" the lip of the shell with a cleaning rod like others have suggested. Is it because it's most likely a commercial shell casing since it's so thin?? It's right there and I can't remove the stupid thing until I get my broken shell extractor.

On the rear sight, I was still learning about the rifles when I got mine and realized there is no windage knob at all. Now I know these rifles were made to be inexpensive but a simple windage knob is like a must on a rifle (unless of course it's a hunting rifle with no iron sights) But I decided to go ahead and get a red dot scope for my rifle because I couldn't stand the fact that i couldn't control the windage.

On the CETME windage is set with the front sight post. The post is off center from the base and can be positioned left or right of the centerline.

sounds like your cocking handle spring is out of wack ,just knock your pin out of the handle through the hole in the cocking tube and take a look .$199 sounds kinda high for a parts kit ,they are drying up though.

You can try a homemade B.S.E.

You will to buy a small rubber washer. Alittle bigger then the I.D. of the shell.
Stick the washer inbetween two sectons of a cleaning rod.
Insert the cleaning rod so the washer is in the case.
Tighten the two section together tight.
This should expand the washer inside of the case and cause it to crab hold.

If you want a spare parts kit for a build, get one. Otherwise just pick up those items that will wear out or break. A firing pin, + size rollers, bolt head, locking piece, extractor, ejector, and any springs you can find.
I would think the parts kit would contain a lot of worn out stuff. Some of the lower priced kits are not including a new barrel so it would be a crapshoot on getting any parts not worn out already.
Get your cocking handle and support out and clean the spring area really good and check to see if it isn't broke. I bet it is or not installed properly.

I think it was makarov.com that had new front sight posts...

On sighting in, set elevation first, the set windage at the frontsight as well. Your elevation will move SLIGHTLY up or down with the half-tunrs to set the windage, but it wont be much.

Funny story... I didnt know how windage was set when I first got my cetme though I did realize that the front sight was a screw... I was shooting high and right... I lowered the impact down and low and behold I was shooting dead-center. Just got lucky! It wasnt til I came to cetmerifles.com and gunboards that I found out a bunch of the stuff I had kinda sorta figured out on my own... just more refined here.

you can also take the rear sight apart and grind the right or left side of the paddles and shim the other side with a thin washer we lost a ton of how to's that were on the old forum.:icon_cool:

On getting a parts kit, not sure if you are looking for the entire parts kit, but they are out there for less than what you are talking about in your post, I think the price is closer to 119 than 200.
Heres the link

I had to do what tump said, just be real careful grinding or you will end up buying a new rear sight.
