Anyone ever use any Cavim ammo from Venezuela in a Cetme? Its brass cased and boxer primed. The guy where I bought it said its Venezuelan Military surplus.

I've shot a bunch of it and had very good results with it. Yep, it's reloadable, just looked and only saw one flash hole. When in doubt, windex it out, but I don't think it is corrosive. It is Venezuelan Military surplus and works just fine.

i good stuff... comparable to S African, shoots a little lower at 100yds (inch or 2) than SAfrican.

Buddy of mine bought tons of it many years back when it was all the rage....and cheap too!

I'm glad to hear that it is good stuff. One of the gun shops that I visit regularly has this stuff for like $4.50 or $4.95 per box of 20. I bought about 6 boxes, but was afraid to load up on it, for fear that it might be trash. I'll pick up some more, if they still have any.

The lot I have (marked CAVIM 91) is tar sealed, and pretty rapidly dirties the chamber of both my CETME and PTR-91, resulting in failure to extract. It is also the least accurate I've fired out of those guns (as well an FR-8 and Enfield 2A).

Hey, will they ship? I'd be in fer a ton of it...

Or, keep yer secret, and buy all you can afford. In a year, it'll be worth 1/2 again hat you paid for it.

BUY IT ALL!

It is a sooty round, so be sure to clean those flutes after shooting. My buddy shoots his in the M-14 and a Kimber bolt gun. Never shot it thru the CETME>

There was a suppy of it on the market a few years back and I stocked a few thousand rounds that I've been using as plinking ammo. It's decent and I find it a little cleaner than the SA. The brass I have is reloadable so it sends me chasinga round after the empties/

All that I have is marked CAVIM 92, and is ink stamped " 06 AGO 1992 " on the bottom of the box.

Well, I checked with the gun shop today and they have gone up $1.00 per box, it is now $5.95 per box. I guess it is still cheaper than anywhere else, and I won't have to pay shipping.

even at that price I'd clean them out and take it all home. Save the brass and you may need to reload down the road if you don't already, or offer it up for sale to those of us that do and recoup some of your costs.

I really don't have the extra bucks to buy it all right now, but then again, I won't have the extra money to pay double that 6 months from now
