Why is everyone selling their Cetme's? Is there something i need to know about? is ammo going up that much? What up?

I think alot of it has to do with the ammo prices. At .50/round I think alot of people are going for less pricey alternatives.

10-4 on that. I'm not selling any of mine. I think some are on a limited budget, some may just be bored with thiers, and for others it mat be the price of ammo like lost in texas said. Don't worrie. They are still one of the best rifles out there. There's nothing going on that you need to be concerned about. Every thing is fine.

I only been toying with the idea to get an FAL, it seems to suit me better, but the $$$ does not, so either I save or sell CETME. I seem to lean toward save for one instead of sell CETME. I need both!

I've heard too many people say too many times "I wish I still had" , "I shouldn't have gotten rid of" or "I'd give anything to have another" to sell any of mine. Getting rid of a duplicate to get one not in the safe yet, maybe. I cannot even fathom a setup like Plannings. It's more of a fairy tale to me. My cetme is going nowhere.

I made the mistake about ten years ago in selling some of my guns and still kick myself to this day! never again I'll buy but I'm not selling or trading anymore. If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence I'll go get some and plant it in my yard.

I have seen far, far more people here building another one or two or five than selling their rifles. Besides, for every one sold there is a new owner:=)

Hel, I've just gotten it all perfected now, after having since berfore the Clinton ban sunsetted! The last thing was the Bill Springfield trigger job and a brand new locking lever. It is ready for anything, and I did buy ammo when it was cheaper.

I also am done selling guns. last time I sold guns it was two shotties to fund the CETME, and I don;t regret that since I retained the good shottie...Ithaca Mod37.

naw! sometimes you have to sell to support your habit. i have sold many guns over the years that i wish i had back, but ususally i needed money to buy something else that i wanted. i have always supported my gun buying by selling guns and stuff. if you don't and try to take it out of the " house money" you will not get there. you will never have enough money for the guns. keep it seperate from the house money and keep track of it.

i have had 3 different collections:
1. guns bought for investment only. ( i sold all of them to a collector the first part of this year). i did not get to keep any of them as part of the deal.

2. guns bought in bulk to sell ( i sold off most of them in the last 2 years).i did keep a few for my personal collection.

3. guns bought to keep, my personal guns. (i still have most of them). these are the one's i post about most of the time. i will be getting rid of a few of them later as i down size some more, but i am not in any hurry. no PM's please i will post them when i get ready to sell them.

I had to sell my collection when I went through my divorce 7 years ago, Never again. I buy and shoot till I am bored then put it in the safe and buy something else till I get bored and start over again, repeat as needed!!!

Ah, yes...my collection was beefed up and my wallet lightened by some fine pieces from #2 there! :)

"had to sell my collection when I went through my divorce 7 years ago"

That sux, man. I got mine outta the house when my divorce started, and let her have whatever else she wanted in the house. luckily she pilaged the DVDs, music and furniture, and called it even. (heh! She left me library alone, too, not a single important book went missing!)

I go in this thurs for mediation to finish the $ part of the divorce. Custody hearing is in July.

She wanted half my guns because that is all I wanted and she knew taking them would hurt me most. It's ok now though, she is living in a trailer in Ill. with 2 guys now so Karma really does happen!!!

yeah I think most are selling because of ammo issues, as 7.62x51 nato is expensive and hard to find these days. also, people who have bolt gap issues sometimes would rather sell than fix the problem themselves.

me, I'm not selling mine, ever, even if all the 7.62/.308 ammo disappears completely. I just love the mechanism of the gun. If I can't shoot it, I'll still keep it as a display piece. I love my CETME, even if it is a Century hack job. I've put a lot of sweat and blood into this thing just to get it running right...

I aint sellling any of my 7.62 nato battle type rifles(got to counting and there are seven of them), and want to get to building the 1919 and another L1A1. Just not shooting much any more as work keeps me busy too.

Well, they did get some right, as evidenced by mine. I have seen prettier CETMEs with better welds, but they were at the point of needing a bbl repress...the would not gap w/all sirtsa bolt changes.

I know back on the CETMERifles site, we all knew what to expect, and there was a ton of exp folks to help out with just abouut any issue. With such a support grp (many of whom are still here), selling the CETME just wouldn't be rite...After putting in over a month of mods/tinkering outta the box just to get it to be range ready, I've developed a relationship with the old girl...I've spent more time with this firearm than any other I own.

I'd only sell the CETME to get another 762 nato rifle. I'd feel naked without at least on in the safe. Unfortunatly I'm getting separated from my ol lady so cash is tight. I doubt I'll get anything else cool before Comrade Hussien O'bamma gets in the WH. After that we will be lucky to hang on to what we already have.

Ammo is going up a little, but it could come down again. It fluctuates. War time ammo is a little higher, but this thing isn't going to last forever. (I hope.)

The great thing about a CETME or any other 7.62NATO rifle is that it is MUCH more powerful than the AKs and the ARs that most people associate with military rifles carried by the general public. Sell? That's not even an option!

I have to say that my cetme is the funnest rifle i have ever shot and owned.
It eats any ammo i feed it, super reliable, simple to maintain and work on.lots of cheap replacement parts. And its a .308!!! the .223 just dont have the feel. its like driving a big block chevelle and jumpin into a cavalier.
I will never sell it! i could use a couple more if anything.

Pigpen:Good luck with that...I am almost done with my d-virce from my inisgnificant other.
Here's a joke just fer ye: Q:why does dvorce cost so much?
A: 'cause it's worth it.

"And its a .308!!! the .223 just dont have the feel. its like driving a big block chevelle and jumpin into a cavalier."

True dat. The .308 is suitable for any game on the north american continent, except buffalo. If you can see it, you can strike it with .308 (if you're a good shot)

I got the tech sites on my 10 22 and love it its great practice for my AR, cause even at 50 yards or even 100 its great practice for a fraction of the cost, all afternoon for 14 dollars, its the best example of a serious shooter, practice practice practice.. and hey have you tried the ones with elevation adjustment? how do you like it.

Er... I'm sure you already know this, but Barnaul, Wolf and Brown Bear make steel cased .308 rounds that are not only reasonably priced, but the CETME loves them!! I know that the accuracy isn't quite as good, but they DO work, and they cost less than Surplus these days. Once again, I'm sure I'm not the only person who knew that. SOMEBODY TELL ME THEY KNEW THAT!!
