This was put into one of the existing threads and didn't belong, so I pulled it out and deleted it by accident.

So, I'm reposting the link.

Thanks M1. That definitely proves to me that something is not right with mine.

Ive tried shooting the CETME 2 handed/no stock before, it really doesnt kick as bad as you would think. It certainly didnt feel to me that I was being rocked around as much as that guy, and Im not very big at all.

CAI loudener (Muzzlebreak). if you have the Flash sider or the cut and crowned barrel, YMMV a bit.

I gotta try that with my CETME...just put some new items on her last night...

Ive done that before... as well as shooting it "gangsta style" with the ejection port pointed up to see how far up inthe air it could fling the case.

Mine kicked about that much or slightly less...

I wonder who TenementFunster is...

The actual level of recoil felt is suprisingly low compared to the ear splitting crack of it being fired. You'd expect it to kick harder than a Mississippi mule.

I have a buffertech recoil buffer in mine and I think it makes it kick harder! Are those things any good or not also do they hurt the rec'r at all (I know they are supposed to protect the rec'r from taking a pounding but...?) I'm afraid the thing may make my century cetme rec'r split at the crappy monkey welds...whadda you guy's think!?

DO NOT USE THE BUFFER TECH BUFFERS!!! the CETME already has a built in buffer in the stock housing, and if you put in the buffer tech buffer it will prevent it from working. It will increase the recoil and wear on your rifle. It has been known to cause the stocks to crack. take it out immediately and chunk it

I took the buffertechs buffer outta mine and used the buffer material for various little projects here and there.

I used some pieces of it for filling a Boyds stock that I got for my K31. Behind the recoil lug there was a 1/8" gap that I havent had a chance to fill with bedding compound yet... In the meantime, I used the buffer material to fill this spot tightly, and thats the best use Ive gotten outta the buffer I bought back in the day for the Cetme.

Sorry Tanker, that was me who posted a random post in a thread. Didn't think it would need its own thread but I see it's a hit. I thought the recoil vid was pretty cool though.

I still haven't had a chance to hear mine go boom yet. I am excited on the low recoil though.

I shot a FAL and man, my cheek was killing me after a few shots.

-->Yep! Gotta love it. I've had friends who've refused to shoot it after hearing its bark, which is much worse than its bite (on your shoulder). These are big dudes, who shoot .308 and larger rifles...just scared 'em , I guess. After 3 range trips, one budy finally gave it a try...now he's got a g-3 parts kit and a CETME on the way. I think the killin of bowling pins at 300yds with irons kinda had something to do with it.

+1 on the "Don't use buffer tech buffers. it also short'strokes the timing of the action, which ain't good. There are companies that sell replacement internals for G-3 and CETME buffer systems....the G-3 buffer tube uses a weird heavy spring coil, and the CETME buffr tube which is longer uses a serioes of what look like rubber stoppers (or cylinders).

The best way to reduce felt recoil on th CETME is to have the true Bolt Gap set around .011-.014 in my experience. Also helps to have a strong new recuil guide spring, and a good muzzle break.
