I took the hand sketch from one of the previous post a did it in autocad. Can someone please verify the dimmensions before I get my gunsmith to machine it for me? I would hate to have a custom machined paperweight.
Also once its verified and edited if needed, anyone is welcome to use it for their own.

Hey Grifter. Mark at Arizona Precision did have those shelfs for sale. He just did a trigger pack and a clip and pin on the housing for me. The cost was 85.00 returned shipped. He does awsome work. Here's a link if your interested. http://www.big50hk.com

where does this part go? I am getting ready to do a build . would this count as a us made part if I make it. I am a tool maker and have a machine shop at my disposal. That part is simple to make.what material and what kind of tolerances does it have? If I make one I probably make a couple and might sell you one for cheap.

roland, this would not count as a US part but it is needed to attach the lower to the upper since the pin hole is removed. If you make them very soon I would probably buy one. if not I'll have to spend an hour or so making one.

Grifter, best I could do is try to measure the one on my rifle....I'll get it out later today.

ya i guess it wouldnt count as a us part. so, the hole is milled out of the trigger housing and this shelf is welded in? then how does that allow the upper to conect to the lower? PJM , I probably wont make one right away . so you better buy one. I am just ordering my kit this week. im trying to get as much info on what is need to do this build as possible.

Roland, read the 922 r sticky on the forum, The only parts that count are those named by the ATF on the lists, just like ak, and other rifles, if it aint on the list it dont matter where its made, just ten or less imported parts that apply to your rifle on the list.

Here are the dimensions I measured off of one of my Century trigger packs:

Read the threads on own to convert your FCG/Grip frame. The shelf gets welded to the receiver.....at about the same location an original would have a hole.

A thought on this, the position that the shelf is welded in is far more critical than the shelf dimensions. Make sure when you weld it in that its at the right level to hold the trigger pack/grip frame in the right place. Ironically looking at Rusty's sketch, you almost could get away with cleaning up a piece of .250 thick angle iron.

oh I was under the impression that it got welded in to the grip frame. but your saying in gets welded into the reciever?

No the grip frame, I made mine out of a hunk of solid steel,a hacksaw and a couple of files took maybe fifteen min to make.

We are talking about 2 different things then. So lets define what is what.
1. There is a block of steel on the receiver where the pin hole would be on an original.
1051
2. The shelf welded into the trigger pack.
1052
What one do you need?

Actually Chris, we are talking about the third piece. the one that gets welded into the Grip Frame which hooks onto the receiver shelf.
The shelf in the trigger pack is there to make room for this piece, and to ensure that the full auto sear cannot be re-installed.

I gotcha Rusty....see I thought we were talking about the receiver piece. Argh, I need more coffee damnit.
I don't have a decent picture handy..but this one.

You also need to put a groove down the middle, to clear the trigger guard thinggy, and chamfer both bottom sides to allow clearance for the bend radius, if you make it long enough to worry about that. Like they said the actual dimensions aren't as important as making sure it's in the right spot when you finish. You can see from the pics, mine was a little short so it deosn't go all the way to the bottom of the inside of the grip housing, but it's in the right place for it to sit properly when installed, and I brazed mine cause all I have at home is a MAAP torch.

How should one hold the shelf in place to test its fit? I have measured my grip frame and my reciever and designed my shelf to be oriented correctly when seated to the bottom of the grip frame. However, I want to be able to test it before I go welding it in. Any suggestions?
P.S. Thanks WildBillCody for the awesome photographs!

If it's tight enough in the grip frame, you can carefully slide it in place make sure it's in the right spot then carefully remove it and secure it. I use my Mk1 eyeball more the my dial calipers.

Here is the updated CETME drawing. I made this part on a mill and welded in it where the bottom rest on the bottom of the grip housing. It worked perfectly. It is very tight, which I like, but will probably be easier to use once a .001" or so has "worn in". Now my rifle is completely assembled and ready for test firing!!!

so that shelf that is welded in to the grip frame, rests on a shelf that is already in the reciever? or does a shelf need to be added to the reciever also?

The semi-auto receivers all come with the shelf welded in already.

So am I right in thinking that this peice will work for a G3 build? And are most of the parts for these builds the same? That is as far as the changes that need to be made? THanks

This is how I did my G3; pics are from the Falfiles G3 build thread
I would highly recommend measuring YOUR gun and trigger pack, before cutting! Not all shelves are the same, nor trigger packs.

Wow that seems a bit of work! I'm thinking the $85 is a good deal for the other fella to do the work.
