Buddy's doing a CETME/HK build...

He's gonna order a receivr for his G3 parts kit. does he have to get a G-3 receiver, or can you use a CETME receiver with a G3 parts kit?

Also, if you have a CETME built, can you use a G-3 trigger pack and a G-3 bolt (complete assembly) in it? anyone know?

Trigger packs are interchangable, bolts are not.

I mean, are the rails of the receivers (G3 vs CETME) different? Trunnion diff? I have access to a G-3 bolt and I must might try to slide it onto my CETME to see if it will fit...I WILL NOT FIRE it or anything silly, just wondering what the diffs are.

I don't know why but I know for a fact they aren't interchangable. Doesn't matter IMO as they don't and can't work.

From what I undertstand, you can use the same receiver to do a CETME build or a G-3 build. Century makes only one receiver and just marks the CETME's with a first letter "C" vs a "G" for the G-3. This is why the century built CETME's can run HK magazines.

The entire trigger pack is interchangeable. The problem isn't with the receiver/bolt carrier interface, you can use the same reciever to build either a hk or cetme, it's the rest of the parts there, the for example, the trunions are different, go to roberts website and look at the interchangeing parts list.

You can build a franken CETME/G-3 if you want to mix eliments of each rifle but certian parts to lock have to be from one or the other.

You have to follow the trunnion.
- if you use the CETME trunnion, you have to use the CETME bolt, bolt carrier, cocking tube and charge handle support.
- if you use the G3 trunnion, you have to use the G3 bolt, bolt carrier, cocking tube and charge handle support.
The G3 trigger pack will work, but only as a complete assembly.
