Yeah most work great. Sometimes a little fitting with a file is needed though, but not always. I think the Century receiver was based on a G3 if I'm not mistaken.

As Rampager said a G3 mag will work< but not the other way around. I usually pick up a dozen or so at a gunshow when you can get them for 2 bucks a peice and check them in my CETME. The ones that don't work (usually 2 or three per dozen) I give to my buddies that own CETMEs also, and most of the time they will work in there's. The problems normally come from the different positions of the trigger packs in different rifles.
There was a post on the different ways to corect this on the old forum a think.

If you have a cast stainless receiver Century cetme, the G3 mags should work fine.

If you have a stamped carbon steel receiver'd Cetme, your mag well could be 100% in specification, or "holy cow, let me get the hammer and the wood blocks to fix it" out of spec. . .

As with all things the :century: boys touched, your mileage may vary . . .

I guess best said, they should, as the receivers were made the same. Atleast the mag well area.

Most of the time.... I have a G3 clone, it takes cetme mags as well as G3 mags, all of my cetmes take G3 mags, that said YMMV.

I must admit it---- My Cetme only likes the cheap mags the cheaper the better they work. Go figure.

My cast Cetme loves most cheap G3 mags, but oddly Cetme mags don't seem to work in it. Using Cetme mags the bolt rides over the rounds. I could fix it by filing some metal off the mag well but I just use the G3 mags when I shoot it being that I have about 100 of them.

This is a yes, no, maybe. Depends on the mag, receiver specs, etc.

You should be aware that the stamped Century CETME receivers are actually built on exactly the same machinery as the Century G3 receivers. The only thing different os the rear sight base and the stampings on the mag well. Dimensionally they are identical.

Likewise the Cast receivers have different sight bases and relef cuts at the rear of the reiceiver, but the mag well dimensions are the same.

Okay so if the mag wells are pretty much identical between Century's G3, cast Cetme and stamped Cetme models, why is there such an issue with getting magazines to fit properly? I am assuming its the ass backwards way Century built the rifles.

Because the receivers are out of spec and there is no consistency when they drill the mag catch hole.

What Chris said + with the stamped receivers the mag well sides are not always straight, but are bowed out. This can make the mags fit too loose and sloppy side to side.

Also the mag well length is often too long and needs to be trimmed.

The magwells are only identical on the stamped G3 and stamped Cetme. The cast receiver is a whole different animal.

The Century G3's have basically all the same issues at the stamped Cetmes...

And as Rusty and Tanker said before, the issues are the out of spec receiver, and also the looseness side to side, but I think the main issue that is the hardest to correct is the inconsistency of where the magcatch was drilled and placed. The magwell can be squeezed to tighten it up, and can be belt sanded to fix the length, but when the magcatch is in the wrong spot, its a much harder fix IMO.
