I picked up a Steyr M 95 carbine in 8x56R from Centerfire systems ( yes they burnt me on a M 71/84) But at $130 I could not say no to the match for my M 95 rifle. It has all matching numbers including the stock. The bore is bright with no pitting 80/90% bluing with wear in the normal places. The stock is in good shape with a lot of dings but no deep gouges. These are pics right from the UPS box. I will post more latter after I clean it up a bit.

I have a Steyr too Norton. I only bought it because the German issued them at the end of the war. Your going to need some clips to feed it....I got mine from Numrich. The 8x56R SOG had didn't come on the clips. Fun little rifle and kicks like a mule. And yes its a straight pull.

very nice looking rifle. i think they are a sleeper rifle and will increase in value soon. kinda like the k-31's have in the last few months.
is the bolt hard to pull back on yours? i got one that the bolt is hard to pull back. i need to find the others i own and see how hard they are.

Planning my rifle looks brand new inside and out is and hard to pull back. I think it is just the nature of the beast. Be advised that when you shoot it.....it really really thumps.

Sweet! That's not a bad looking!
BTW, how bad was your 71/84, was it fairly complete? Other than missing the wood?

I have one also and I love the shooter...although! It' kicks like all get out.
I was dumb enough to try and use the oven cleaner to clean the gunk off of my stock and I destroyed the stock.
BTW...anyone that has an extra M95 carbine stock....PM me.
Norton...enjoy the rifle...it's a charm and a frog in Prince waiting.

The M 71/84 was all complete with the wood all there, but with wrong bolt.
What I bought was a M 71/84 with bolt and that is what they sent me. Just not a M 71/84 bolt. Hunter and Planing the bolt pulls back very smooth. Not as slick as the K 31. It takes more force. but it is smooth.

i dont like taking apart the bolt, it sucks pulling back on that with your bare hands if the bolt head rotates and you have to pull it back out to reinsert into the receiver

I have been thinking about getting one of these. I even have some ammo on the clips.
" You might be a gun nut if you have ammo for a rifle you don't even own" LOL!

Really nice rifle and it looks like it will clean up extremely well. Let us know how it shoots.

i picked mine out from big-5 and got one thats says 1903 on the side of the receiver. it is s coded and the barrel is 17 stamped. awsome on the outside but the barrel is at 20 percent of life left, or less! you do have to rack the bolt good to get it back but is is smooth if you have a strong hand.
