Ok, on another thread somewhere, I heard someone saying something about Bedding Compound. I assume that you put this int he stock of a rifle areound te bbl. to get a good fit, to make the rifle an accurate shooter.

I Have a MN 91/30 and there is a little play in the stock at the muzzle end. I thought about shimming it at the muzzle with cardboard or thin leathr (the wiggle isn't that bad) but the I hear "bedding compound' and went 'hmmmm'

First, is this wiggle a big deal? At 50yds, the rifle groups pretty decent...I can shoot 3of 5 shots sub moa, and then have a flier or two. But I intend to wind this puppy out to 300yd in a month, and I want it to have every opportunity to live up to the mosin legend for distance shooting.

Second, is bedding compound a fix for this wiggle? is it intended to make the bbl fit tighter in the stock? I've heard of 'glass bedded' and 'free-floated' bbls on match rifles, which this is not. just wondered if there was more to 'Rifle Bedding' than sleeping with the latest acquisition ;) :D

Any info appreciated.
