I was at the gun shop I use for trnasfers the other day when the owner showed me a hole in the wall behind him. He had been taking the slide off his glock when it went off. One of the reasons I will never own a glock is you have to pull the trigger to get the slide off. Personal prejudice. He said he had removed the mag, pulled the slide back with the gun held sideways so the round would fall to the floor. Except it didn't, and he didn't notice that it hadn't. When it went off it was pointed slightly up and at an angle towards the back of the store, abouthead hieght. After the Hail Marys, etc, he went next door to check on the people there. No one was hurt but they were a little shaken up. He smooth talked them and told them "They never felt so alive as they did right then". Being a 'We buy your gold and silver fillings" type of store, the guys were all macho about it and didn't call it in. The gun store owner teaches classes for newbies and concealed carry and competes in some matches. He's been around for a long time. The lesson is: FOCUS! when you're doing anything with guns. I haven't had an AD or NG. Yet. I hope I never do, but it CAN happen. I appreciate these reminders from other people, especially as I get older, to be careful with my guns. He was pure D lucky this time, in many ways.
