Just arrived today! I've wanted one of these for 20 years. It was a special run by Smith and Wesson for RSR in 1988. I couldn't afford one at the time. Astute observers will note that it has a 3 inch barrel instead of the 4 inch or 2.5 inch barrel that you find on "normal" model 66s. The round-butt K frame in .357 magnum is almost perfect as a concealed carry weapon, but the extractor rod on the 2.5 inch barrel is too short to fully extract magnum casings. On a 3 inch barrel, it's just right. The model 65 was common in a 3 inch barrel, but it doesn't have high-profile sights or an extractor rod shroud.

I didn't get to keep it. As soon as it came out of the box, the wife hefted it, tried the trigger, and said, "It's perfect, sweetie! Thank you so much!" She wanted a K frame revolver for carry because she thinks she might have trouble clearing a jam in a semi-auto under stress. She probably would do just fine because we've practiced it, but one of the most important attributes of a carry firearm is that you have faith in your ability to use it.
