Sheriff Joe Arpio, the toughest sheriff in the country, all around good guy and a personal hero of mine, has once again upped the ante on the illegal alien issue in Maricopa County. Seems Sheriff Joe sent 37 of his deputies to a program sponsored by the feds and run by ICE/INS that now allows these deputies to detain, arrest, and hold for deportation all illegals they take into custody and allows them legally to go looking for them. ICE will train 160 deputies and everyone that is stopped for a traffic violation as well as all "guests" of the Maricopa county jail will be checked for their legal status. This was announced thursday and Joe started his day with the deputies arresting 20 illegals on their first stop.

Sheriff Joe said in a news conference that he would not be sending his people by the Home Depots and Lowe's but also said that they would be looking for the singles and small groups as well.

Hispanic advocates and liberals in the state feel that Sheriff Joe is racially profiling. Well gee, show me some black south africans, or some white eastern europeans that are entering the country illegally from the southern border and I am sure that Sheriff Joe Arpio and his deputies will arrest them as well.

Way to go Sheriff Joe!:clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Way to go! This is the kind of thing that needs to happen more in this country. I always thought if you broke the law you could be jailed but where I live, the cops don't take you in if you are an illegal, you have to commit a second crime to be hauled away, which is just sh*t.

I applaude whole heartedly.

My ONLY problem is not with Joe but with the idea that a sworn and chartered law enforcement branch needs "permission (training)" to be able to arrest someone committing a felony?

In an announcement friday, ICE/INS announced that at the insistance of Sheriff Joe, they will open and staff an office INSIDE MARICOPA COUNTY JAIL! This will allow for a speedier flow for deportation.:wow:

Sheriff Joe estimated that this would save the taxpayers of the county approximately $9 million a year and a yet to be determined number of bologna sandwiches.:roflmao:

:champion: Ya gotta love Sheriff Joe:champion:

I have heard about that guy before. He put convicts in tents took away their playboy , weight lifting and TV. Then gave them old fashioned striped uniforms and made them work on the road. As for his new round up program.. If every sheriff and police chief did this across just the south and south west. The problem of illeagal entry would return to the levels we had in the 1950 and 60s. that is a just small trickel would make it thru the net. As it is cops are told by many police and sheriffs depts to keep out of it and don't ask questions even if they know.

now yer talkinn! Go Joe!

Yeah, Norton. I also think that inmates should not have it any easier than an homeless non-offender, maybe they need to bring in the chain-gangs again.

Hey, I just found the group who will do the work that only illegals will do...inmates! and they'll do it even chaper...room-n-board, and dat's it.

I swear Joe' already put that idea together...

Joe has chain gangs for the men, and the woman. He is the man and if we could clone him the country could stop it's backslide and be what it used to be. Joe says that he pays more to feed his dogs than the inmates, and can prove it.
