I received the 3 boxs of Hornady 6.5 Jap 140 grn soft point I ordered today and took my recently acquired 38 6.5 out to the range. Shot two 1.5" 4 shot groups at 50 yds. Very nice for 55 year old eyes at dusk. I will definitely be buying dies for this rifle! When I get the 144 grn PCI ammunition I'll update the report.
I got the PCI ammo I ordered from Graf&Sons. On Saturday I took the 6.5 out to the range and shot a box. The cases appear identical to the Hornady ammo with the same mismarking ie.
6.5X51 instead of 6.5x50. The 144 grn PCI shoots to the same POI as the Hornady as near as I can tell. I was shooting half size silouhette pistol targets at 150 yds and was able to keep
shots in the center two ovals. The price per box is a little easier to take too at 13.99 a box.
I did notice that when feeding rounds from the magazine as the shell rim slips under the ejector it doesnt align properly and I have to wiggle the bolt a bit for it to align the shell with the chamber. I don't know if the rim is not dimesioned properly or the gap between the bolt face and ejector is to wide. Not a biggy as I don't plan on doing any rapid fire shooting with this old baby
Oh yea, as added entertainment at the range, Pete the state police swat guy was practicing with his UMP. Now there's an ammo burner!
