Hi, Got a CFS cetme kit with a bent recoil rod. No big deal. My question is, if I get a G3 recoil rod from RTG parts will it fit a cetme buttstock and buffer assembly without mods? I want to use cetme wood, got a beautiful set from DRINE. And will the cetme collar and retaining pin fit the G3 rod without modification. I know the whole assemblies interchange but want to cannabalize the old cetme one , with the new G3 rod without modification. Please advise., Mike.:sterb126:

It will fit the stock, and the receiver, but not the buffer. The buffer hole in the stock likewise will not line up. It's best to get the rod and spring and assemble everything with the old rod end, bushing, and stock cap.
Or get some G3 wood.

The G3 buffer assembly does not use the same size hole, or location in the buttstock for the buffer. Additionally the screws in the front of the buffer are different between the two.
You CAN modify the metal G3 buttstock bracket to line up on the CETME wood buttstock and by placing the bracket onto the wood you will see where it needs to be filed to get the right location.
Likewise putting the CETME buffer in you can locate the holes for the front screw(s).

Just weld the G3 recoil rod only to the CETME backing plate and use the CETME pin and collar. The you will have all CETME parts other than the rod and spring.
By the way, Hi Rusty!
