For some this might be a great program. I have taken a tour of Top Brass and they are a Manufacture. There is one thing that is not on the web site that you need to be aware of and that is the brass must be deprimed. So if you were thinking about dumping all that berdan primed cases they have to be deprimed.

I have always had good luck with there processed brass and they are the manufacture of Black Hills brass.

That really sucks, I was getting a big box ready to send them. If they want it de-primed they might wanna mention that on their site. :( Buttheads. :nonono:

Are you sure of the brass being de-primed?
The add said "You do not need to sort your brass by caliber, we will gladly accept any caliber! It does not matter if the casings are crushed, or bent."
How do you remove the primer of a crushed case?

Anyone contact them about this exchange lately?

crushing a case sually deseats the primer.

Still, the avg. price on the London metals exchange for cartrige brass is about $2.61 per pound currently...so this guy's shortin ye.

Steely, thats I imagine, is for tens to hundreds, of tons, not lbs, thus to get prices like that you have to gather and store truck loads.

I found other prices for less than ton amounts, of about a $1.11/lb.

I imagine these guys arent getting much more than the LTT price, unless they have a facility to deal with bulk scrap metals too, thus not sure how unfair they are but the London Metals price isnt realistic for them to deal with, as I imagine they will sell to a scrapper who then will sell to a smelter at some point.

Where I work we sell directly to smelters and bulk scrap buyers for bulk metals but can promice tens to hundreds of tons weight of steel(we fill rail cars full daily) and brass within reasonable times.

I noticed that thier price was per lb of yellow brass.
Cartridge brass in theory is a 70/30 alloy of brass and zinc.

For reference, my local scrap yards pays $1.00/lb cash for scrap cartridge brass.

Cartrage brass is a 70/30 allloy of copper and zinc.(not brass and zinc, as alloys of copper and zinc is what make brass). :)

So how do I remove the primers from all the range brass I found?
I have almost every common caliber in the rainbow.
RCBS has a UNIVERSAL DECAPPING DIE, does this cover most pistol and rifle brass?

as long as the shell fits, or is it live ammo.

jerrymrc, who did you talk to?
I called them today and they said "no need to remove the primers and any yellow brass brass will be fine as it all goes to scrap"

Maybe you should call them again.
The only primers they don't want in the brass is unfired primers.

If the brass fits in the die and it contains a dead boxer primer the universal decapper from RCBS will remove it. Some Hot Shot ammo from Century is an exception. I have some Bosnian made Hotshot ammo that has undersized flash holes that pervent the decapper pin from getting through to push out the primer. That issue aside, the RCBS Universal Decapper is a great tool, especially for removing stubborn crimped boxer primers from mil-spec brass.

I do not remember her name but I do remember the voice as the woman I met when I paid for my last order. If it has changed then that is good since I have a buttload of berdan brass.

Took my brass to TopBrass and of coarse the price went down :( per lb to $1.95

New websuite http://www.scharch.com/brassexchange.php

Went there yesterday and I had 144 lbs x1.95 =$280 would of been $308 had the price not dropped.

Was less than pleased when they didn't have any bulk 9mm or 40 S&W bullets.
They drop shop some of their bullets from someplace in MT. So much for saving $ in shipping charges :(
I ended up with 2000 9mm bullets and 500 223 rounds of 223 brass, still had to shell out some cash for the difference.

They don't have much other than brass and bullets to trade so make sure you know what you want before you go or ship them brass to exchange.
