Hi Guys,

Been a little while. I got a new Job and was away in God forsaken NJ.

Anyway, I made it down to the National Gun show. It was only ok. I did get one thing. Its a FN model BAR parts kit. It is missing its Gas tube and maybe some parts relating to that (I did not know this when I bought it). I only paid $200 for it so I am not to-to upset. I think it also came with some BAR parts. Take a look and tell me what you think!

What kind of Carry handle is this?

I wish I could afford a BAR right now. That's one of the things that's sitting on the top of my list. I'm a little worried about what the prices will be though in the future.

Don't know about the BAR parts, but that carry handle looks like it came off of an M60.

Im with Ronin, that is a M-60 carry handle.

Imblitz, thats a pretty fricking cool parts kit.

I'm glad your back, was starting to wonder where in the heck you got off to.

M60 huh... interesting.

Yeah man, I will probably not be able to post as much as I did with my last Job. We will have to see on that one. Its been a very busy last few weeks for me.

I am half thinking of selling this kit. I plan to buy a BAR (I am not sure which version 1918 or 1918a2/3) so I do not really know if I want to keep it. I bought it with the plan to make some money or keep it.

Anyone know where I can get a gas tube? I know OOW has all the barrels I could ever want.

Can you switch cals. in this gun simply by changing the barrels out?

I disagree, look at these FND's, they have the exact same carry handle

if you want to sell it reasonable, ill take it for sure.
it looks like one of the sacramento armory kits by the shape of the wood stock, and the missing gas tube - they had them for a while at $180.00, if im not mistaken, its probably in 7mm mauser from venezuala

anyways, if interested in selling it, let me know

i concur that that is a m60 carrying handle

Yup, 7mm. Another reason I am thinking about letting it go.

Honestly the only reason I am thinking of selling it, is that I really need the money and here is a chance to make a little. Whats it worth to you Perro? There is one on gun broker for $500 and no takers...

It is a pretty cool gun, so I am still not sure if I am going to let it go but if I do, I will give you first shot Perro.

You guys think OOW will ever do a semi run on these? I know they have a bunch of parts.

How about those front sight guards? FND or BAR?

front sight hoods, and flash hiders are usgi

we have one of those in our shooting group as a post sample - dont remember who it belongs to, tony i think? but i havent seen it in a while

you cannot use the standard BAR receiver with those kits - its totally different than the USGI. It has a quick change barrel where the gi does not.

i do know for a fact that philadelphia ord. says those parts will not work with there receiver, so i doubt it would work with a OOW?

i dont have one to make comparisons, but i do have the book rock in a hard place, and it says in there they are not interchangeable too.

i dont know dude, im sure we can work something out with the parts i need to make - which is another story all together, i broke my mills control board once again yesterday evening in the middle of a cut. I was STARTING to make some parts for us, and it just quit working - more money, and time down the tubes.

on a positive note, sherman has worked out the 1910 maxim - not sure if you caught it or not? Not sure if its approved yet or not either.

we can work something out for the FND - just dont forget who gave you a deal on other stuff when you set your price. Id like it just to study the damn thing. There is no chance in hell in my mind it will ever shoot again in ANY form due to the lack of parts, but i sure would like it just to study the thing to see whats different. There would be hope if it had torch cut receiver parts. The BAR is a complicated receiver - nothing i could cut even with a CNC mill, and it requires broaching too. WAY out of my league. I dont know how JMB built these things in his garage with common tools with his brother, its beyond my ability even with a computer controlled robot - just goes to show JMB was a genious

What stuff? What deals? :neener:

Ok I will ask no more then $700 :neener:

Yeah I know the receiver is very complex and very different from USGI.

After talking to one of the guys from OOWs, it sounds like they have a bunch of these parts kits hidden away too. Maybe when they are done the USGI...

I was wondering what the hell you were talking about at first, then I realized that you were talking about the Vickers project! Now I am following! I did miss the word on the Maxims... I was away for a while. Was that on 1919a4?

Oh and I got my welder. What mask and gloves...etc. where you suggesting?

I saw the info on the Maxim over at 1919a4. As much as I'd like another beltfed, I think I'll have to pass on that one.
