Build no.19. From a milled, pinned 150$ CFS kit. Bore was of course dark. When you look at the Yugo barrels through a bore scope, they look as though they have topographical features. It passed the bullet test, however.
Got a stamped front trunion from Bocefus. Had to lower the pin channel in the barrel. It headspaced right, just too shallow.
I could not find a rear trunnion, I would guess because of all the Tabuk sniper builds everyone is doing. So I made one out of the rear reciever stubb. Reduced it in all dimensions on a belt sander. Then drilled it to match the holes in the NoDakspud reciever. Which by the way is outstanding!
Wood was in decent shape, pretty much left it alone except for some cleaning, and BLO. Metal blued with Oxpho-Blue from Brownells.
With compliance parts build total was under 350$

Nice rifle, and what is that, a Chinese drum mag?
75 or 100 rounder?

Thanks.
Yep Rusty.I have a couple of factory 36,Chinese 75 rounders. Plus two Romy and two Chinese 40 rounders. Got the Chinese 40 rnd mags from Planning.
Ken Kubin and I began plotting these whan CFS first started selling the milled pinned kits. Took me forever to get around to building it and I still beat Ken to the punch.(Of course Ken has probably built 200 hundred Aks since then!)

Build #19!?!?! Wow. I can see if ya start building, it can get addictive. Now you're custom milling parts and stuff!
That looks great...I gotta switch to this Oxpho-blu stuff (from the Bichwood-Casey Perma-blue...tha stuff is a bit straky and blotchy, even with proper surface prep)...I use it on armor and hand weapons, makes a viking bearded axe look nice.

Yep Steely,I am an addict!
The Oxpho is great cold blueing. No after rust and the blueing is a type of a phosphate. So it gives better protection then any other form of cold blueing. Check out Brownells website for more info on it.
Shot the RPK today and was nailing tennis balls at 120 yards nearly every time! plus when I got home and ran some JB bore paste through it,turns out alot of what I thought was pitted metal was carbon. I now have some shine and grooves! Hooray!
The bad news was it was so cold and windy my fingers got so cold,I almost could not use them even with wool gloves on. Had to cut the range time short.

I have been foam bore cleaning my Yugo RPK for about a year now and its almost completly clean. There was some HEAVY build up of copper.
Every time I foamed it the foam would come out blue and there would be a heavy run of blue goo flowing out the barrel end. That blue goo is hard to get off once it hardens.
There was so much build up that I couldn't see the barrel bulge in the las 3/4" of the barrel. I had it counter bored and it shoots fine now.

I know what you mean. I have been cleaning this barrel for about 6 months with the foaming cleaner. Blue, blue, blue. I have some other Yugos that took ALOT to clean! I guess because it's a RPK though, it got heavier use.
Pretty happy with it now!

Jeff at Apex has a few of the stamped Yugo RPK kits! Less than 5 I think and they are not cheap but they are nice. I think that they are all matching number as well.
