I don't know how many of you ever end up over at AR15.com, but I found a really useful piece of information over there. I tried it, and built my own sling for $8.50. The same sling was $49.95 at Gander Mountain. Totally sweet.

If that link doesn't work, it is under the AR15 section in the "build it yourself" section. Not a sticky there, but it should be.

Let us know if it pans out...I'd be interested in seeing if a 'lefty' version will work, since he alludes to such in the post.

Im looking forward to trying this...

I got a bunch of buckles and slidelocks and stuff like that. Im gonna go to the hardware store and buy a bunch of webbing and have at it even without his pictures... I think I can figure it all out looking at some generic pictures of stuff on the internet.

Another thing Ive got going for me is my Mom's a seemstress, so I can probably rig all this stuff up to be a rugged and swappable sling... and I ordered a bunch of hooks to make it compatible with a Cetme or HK.

Im hoping it will be even quieter and quicker than the 3-point I have on my Cetme right now, and I bet the plastic parts will be a lot easier on the camo paint than the metal Hk parts Ive got on right now.

Some pictures would be really handy if anyone saved them, and I could modify the idea to fit a Cetme...

Thats a link to the kit you can buy online......... pretty damn cheap if you ask me. I ordered 3... 1 for me and 2 for friends.

use AR15 as a discount code to get 10% off. Ive got some stuff to attach it to an HK without buying anything else, though they sell the HK front clips for $2 or $2.50 if you wanna go that route.

I may not even like this more than the one I have, but worse come to worse, Ill just throw it on my G22...

P.S. The kit at the website comes with instructions........ I plan on modifying them and sewing everything up so it doesnt have to have all the plastic pieces if thats possible.

The only thing I really don't like is that the webbing is 1 1/2 inches. I much prefer 1 1/4 inch slings. However, it seems almost impossible to find 1 1/4 inch webbing and hardware by normal means.

I ordered 3 kits... one for me, and 2 for friends... Ill definitely be ordering some more for the rest of my rifles... I did 2 the exact way they said to do them, and then did 1 to custom fit me and my Cetme.

I'm pretty sure that once my friends see mine and how nicely it works, they'll want me to mess with theirs too... unfortunately Im the only person I know except my mom who knows how to sew, so I get stuck with all the work... Its ok though.. I charged them both $5 so I got my sling completely free!!!!!

Here are the pics of how I changed mine up.

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i15/jfowl31/leftsidebig.jpg

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i15/jfowl31/clippedbig.jpg

Here it is unclipped up front... Its good for laying down to get more room in the sling, and not having to unsling the rifle... also good for switching to shoot off your left shoulder... Ive had to do it before while hunting when I didnt want to move around, but needed to shoot left-eyed.

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i15/jfowl31/unclippedbig.jpg

Here's what I did on the buttstock, because with it just slung through the clip, it tried to make the rifle hang on its side, so I wanted the attachment point on the top of the buttstock.

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i15/jfowl31/buttbig.jpg

And instead of the big loop up front to wrap around a handguard, I snagged a HK clip off an old leather sling I had and rigged up the front this way... strapworks sells these clips too btw.

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i15/jfowl31/frontbig.jpg

The Nylon feels great... I thought it would be too wide, but its actually quite comfy with it being so wide. All the buckles and slides are high-quality, and will last a long time... definitely worth the 10 bucks and time to make it.

What do you guys think? Its not solely tactical either... It can be utilized a bunch of different ways... You can carry just like a regular sling if you need... You can unclip and carry it 1-point style... left side style, Or you can unclip it to drop it (If youre French)... My favorite is the backpack carry though... I wont use that one with the Cetme, because the 308 is a great brush round... but on the AR I'll be putting it on, Ill carry my 45-70 when walking the brush for hogs and then put the 45-70 down and shoot the AR for setting up in a field for Coyote hunting... Its much easier than trying to sling 2 rifles... and it never fails that If Im carrying small bore, I see hogs, and big bore- coyotes at long range............

I'm gonna link to this in the Cetme forum to get some more hits as I think this is such a great deal... If thats not cool, M1, then just delete my other one.

and the leather belt is there to keep from scratching the cultured marble.

and yes... the first picture is taken in the mirror... thats why the ejection port is on the left side........
