Don't have any 1st hand knowledge of the 1911 you speak of. I have put .32 S&W longs, .32 shorts, .32H&R Magnums & the 762x38R thru my M1895 with out much of a problem. The H&R did have some bulged cases but shot to POA.

I have a double stack rockisland, the comment seem to be good about the single stacks too. I remember the comments have been really good about them.

On the nagant pistol, there is new stuff out there Flochi makes some as other of the eastern europian makers too. There is some surplus out there too when you can find it.

I bought one of those rock island 1911 a while back and i love it. I have never had any issues with mine. The only thing i do not like on that model is that you can not change the sights on it. I would spend a little bit more and get the tactical model.

My Pop has a RIA 5" GI, put about 2000 rounds through it with out a problem. The only thing that I've just now run into is the recoil spring is showing wear, it occasionally catches on the top round with the older 7 round 1911 mags. This is quickly solved by a bump to the slide or by using the 8 rounder it came with.

When I turn 21 this October I am defiantly going with another RIA product, Thinking of one of the 160 buck .38 revolvers.

$350 sounds great. There should be nagant revolver ammo of various makes at gun shows and sometimes the places selling them. Gunbroker will have gen-you-wine ruski ammo at times. The others mentioned work too. It is a wierd, fun gun.

Here's a couple posts on the Rock Island:

You can also buy a .32ACP conversion cylinder for the Nagant pistol. They are probably in the $70 range.

Very nice! What is the date on the Nagant? The 1911 is something I still need for myWWII collection. Let us know how 45 works, smooth, rough, pig iron, diamond. etc.

the guns performed very well. the nagant had no kick. and the .45 after 100 rnds did nice. very crisp and fired very well. i took a little to get used to.

The Nagant doesn't need any kick. Not as long as it has a 30 pound DA trigger pull to throw you off. Definately a SA plinker.

Hey rifleman now you have to get started tricking out your 1911. Oh you thought there where a lot of options for the AR did ya! Wait till you start tinkering with the 45. You'll have fun doing it. And oh how much it will change the way it shoots.
