Looks a bit like a tuning fork - I like it! I look forward to hearing how it works.

which forum member I was talking to about those, but they did say that they ring out like a tuning fork after each shot!
Nice.

i've got one like that on my AR, and it DOES have a bit of a tuning fork effect to it.
they are supposed to be better at eliminating flash, i can't say i've really ever compared it before though.

brownells, use their search function to look for "vortex"
you'll get a list and they have HK91 vortex flash hiders for 91 dollars.
real steep for a flash hider, but I like it, and it is an uncommon thread for the vortex.

I will be painting a different forearm than this one, and you might also notice that i practiced a little bit with the duracoat, the forearm pictured is in "tiger stripe green"

Cetme, there is falfiles member called Moses who makes Hurricane flash hiders. I bought one last month,it is essentially a vortex. Mine is a cetme, same thread as HK. Looks great, works great, and yes it IS a tuning fork.
best regards,

Very sharp! I wish I would have patience for something like this.

all you need is the paint ( duh) a piece of glass, an xacto knife, and some blue masking tape. stick the tape to the glass, and use the xacto to cut out stripes, peel and stick to the item in question.
single use only, obviously.

Thank you. I might give it a shot when it cools down a little here in the desert. Sounds like a fun winter project.

With the rifle going more "tactical" in look with the FH and the upcoming paint job, I'd be happy to have that sling stud. Now you can mount a harris or similar type bipod to it and have a better functioning bipod than the standard wide handguard/bipod setup.
The vortex looks nice. Probably keeps the shockwave from the CAI loudener down a bit too. Personally, I don't care much to hide my flash, and will probably always use a muzzle attachment as a brake of sorts, but the vortex is a nice looking piece for sure.
