How do you sight in an G3? I understand the windage screw on the right side of the sight, but is the top screw on the back for elevation? Mine seems to just tighten down the rear sight and if I loosen it, it dose not have a spring under it to put pressure on the sight. Am I missing a spring or do you use the front sight to somehow do elevation for the G3 rifle?

This is for a G3 not a CETME. The front has no wind adjustment, that's adjusted using the rear sight. How do I adjust for elevation when zeroing it at 100 yards?
See my web site (http://www.mg-42.net/sight_adj.htm) for info.

The rear drum rotates on a thread, there is a special tool but needle nose pliers work ok.
Inside the drum you will see two notches or tabs, press these down and rotate the drum.

OK cool. Thanks. Kind of a weird system it seems. I will try and use some needle nose pliers to see if I can't get it to work.
Thanks for the link to that your website mg42.
