so, as much as i love my sig, i've been thinking i want something smaller for during the summer, as just a t-shirt isnt really enough at times to cover the pistol. so i'm wondering what what subcompacts are out there that are at least a 9mm, prefereably something larger like a .40 or .45.

i like the looks of the walther PPS (not PPK) and it seems like it'd be a good pocket gun. my only concern is that .40 might have a hell of alot of kick in that small a package, but it does come in 9mm........

i dont like the glock or springfield subcompact because they're too thick.

any suggestions?

Glock 19.

Seeing pictures of you and your build, there is no reason why you couldn't conceal one under a t-shirt, or at least a button up short sleeve shirt with a proper holster and belt.

Think Austrian; think GLOCK 29.

one frame, one slide:

First I bought the Glock 29 10mm compact. Then I learned that the .40 S&W and the .357 Sig are based on the 10mm case. So Lone Wolf sent me (for $115 each) barrels that drop right into the 29 and I can use the same magazine for all three calibers. I learned that another caliber, the 9x25 Dillon will also drop right in. Lone Wolf finally has the 9x25 drop in barrel for the G29. MidwayUSA has DoubleTap 9x25mm ammo; 90 grain bullet, 2200 fps...smoking fast.

Range report to follow......

imi jericho. some people call it a baby eagle. i've seen 9mm and .45, don't know about .40. nice little polymer frame package. i have a imi uzi eagle subcompact (some people also call them baby eagles) and it is the all steel version. it is the right size for ccw but it is heavy but i think they make them in polymer now and call them eaa witness or a cz75.

get a smaller SIG!

Yes sir, & here's 3 fine choices:

Old P230 SL with wood grips. (.380 or 9x18U)

P239 in .357 SIG (very hot and Reliable round)

P245 in of course .45

Oh yeah, there are other companies that make guns too but...:sleepy:

Look at the KAHR Cw series. They now come in 9mm, 45 acp, and 40 sw. They are very thin and accurate and reliable to boot. Easy carry gun and not to small so you get good control of the weapon. They are backed by a good company as well. I have put nearly 1000 rounds thru my CW9 so far not 1 FTF. It is a plain jane gun that is an easy and quick gun to bring on target. They are priced well too. You won't break the bank.

the 239 is not significantly smaller - i've carried my dad's on occasion (before getting my 229). i would like a 245, but again, its not all that smaller

i'm looking for a subcompact, probably pocket carry, so i would think single stack would be better as its thinner.

Check out the KAHR arms Cw series I bet you will like them and the price. The CW9 will fit your pocket and is very accurate. Just my .02 worth.

grow larger! Heehee!

You could look into other ccw rigs, such as those day-planner lookin ones. Sometimes concealment in plain sight (like that) is all it takes.

For summer I carry a PA-63, nice and small. Dispite what people say, I feel that the 9x18 round will stop someone that's bent on doing me wrong.

I love my Kahr K40, I haven't tried any of the plastic ones, It's my favorite small carry gun besides S&W model 60 in 357 MAG

I like your own suggestion CT since you don't like the Glock. I REALLY want a Walther PPS. That gun has so many features........ And honestly unless you are really recoil shy, 40 isn't too much for a pocket gun. Just shoot the heavier bullets. The 165's tend to be "snappier" than the 180's.... the 180's do more of a push than a sharp jerk.

I like the Glock 27, but I'm not hell bent on it being everyone else's favorite. I respect Sigs and HK's, but they feel awkward in my hands.

I also like the walther P99 compact guns too. IMO, Walther makes the most comfy pistols on the market... all the way down to the P22.

I had a Baby Eagle full size. I'm still pissed at myself for selling it. The serial # was in the sub-30K range which put it at being on of the first batch imported and was originally a 41 AE caliber. It was converted into 40 cal and sold in America. To be quite honest, I love THAT gun, and have hated every Baby Eagle I've handled since. Little subtle differences make me not like the new ones. They are all based on and copies of CZ pistols (the 90 series) in the way they work and handle.

Heard good things about Kahr, though I've never shot one.

Buddy of mine carries a Bersa for his "pcoket" gun and it works flawlessly with good ammo and a good mag. Take away either one and its jammomatic.

My sub-compact carry is a Tauras MP 111 Pro. Yup, its not a Glock, or one of the "big" name makers, but it works. For me it is very accurate at 10m and has a lifetime warranty.

One drawback (IMHO) is the trigger pull is looooooong. But, like anything else in life, with practice it becomes second nature.
