Finally broke the RCBS inertia puller. I let a member of our club reload some .40's, and about twenty of them didn't receive a primer. I was only on the second round, and when the puller contacted the 50lb weight the ass end of it flew off, hit the ceiling and landed behind my reloading bench. I can't remember how many times I've used this thing, dad bought it used from Mcbrides for $8.50
Henry recently had the displeasure of unloading a couple hundred rounds of .45 with it, and I'll probably give it to him as a souvenir if he wants it.
If you're still reading this, I need a new inertia puller. Does anybody have experience with the Frankford Arsenal $13 model from midway? If it's not worth it I'll probably pick up another RCBS or maybe a Dillon puller.
Thanks for any input.

Frankford Arsenal models are just as good as any others IMO, In fact thats what i have now and it's probably had a couple hundred rnds through it so far.

I have an RCBS and I have used it perhaps 120 times with no problem. The new ones are all plastic where as yours has a metal shaft attaching the handle to the head.

The Frankford Arsenal ones look like his RCBS just blue in color.

I've always been afraid of breaking mine. As hard as I hit it on my vise if figured it was indestructable. I guess they are not. It sure was worth the price. I must have pulled 500 bullets using mine.
doesn't rcbs have a lifetime guarantee?

You might be right. I called to order a de-capping pen for my -06 dies & they sent me about 5 for free. Worth checking on fer sure.

They've always been generous with decap pins, I have a bunch of them.
According to their warranty page there no warranty offered for the bullet puller. http://www.rcbs.com/general/warranty.aspx Although calling them wouldn't hurt, The number is at the bottom of the page.

ive broken 3 of the rcbs ones just like you did
ive also broken a few o rings - quick tip, in a pinch, when the O ring breaks on you, you can use a lee shell holder in place of the collet / o ring assembly thingy and it works perfectly and will get you by till you get to home depot for a new o ring

Another tip, Don't hit the puller directly against metal or concrete. I use a small piece of indoor/outdoor carpet on a cinder block, It still hits hard enough to get the job done and will make your puller last a little longer.

I've had good luck with mine by striking it against a thick slab of hard maple. I got the wood block for free from the scrap pile at a local cabinet shop.

Thanks for the tips on striking surfaces and the lee collets.
I've been hitting against a 50 lb weight for a while, because it is quieter than hitting a wood surface(and doesn't piss off the neighbors as much). I have some rubberized adhesive-backed material left over from my chin gun that I'll stick on top of the weight.
Every time I go home I forget to bring back the pinche collets, and I need to remember to bring an assortment back.
I haven't ordered a new puller yet: I'm a cheap college student that would rather spend the money on food, powder, or primers. I've been thinking about building my own out of spare parts, so I'll have to put on the "adapter man" hat for a little while and see what I end up with.

I quit drinking:icon_neutral:, and I started working out again, so no more pizza.

I hit the mat on the back door step.

Dillon didn't warrentee the one I broke. Wood blocks are noisy, too. Just put a piece of carpet over the stuff you're hitting.
