I was guessing that the SKS would go either here or in the "Others" bin.

Nice Fuzzy. Did you get that unissued? Mine looks a little like yours, but your wood appears to be cleaner. Very nice.

Sweet and thanks. Yes, I did get it unissued for $189. It works great. Pretty accurate actually.

The boxed SKS is either a SKS-D or SKS-M model. Both are 7.62x39. They use standard AK mags.

Lost In Texas is correct this is an SKS-D model that I purchased NIB from Planning. These rifles are chambered in 7.62x39 and they have a 16" barrel like the para model. These rifles do use all AK mags except the drum mags which will not fit because of clearance issues with the stock.

I love this rifle it shoots great and is loads of fun. :D The stock is extremely comfortable. It has a longer length of pull with comfortable rubber butt pad and a wide forearm that fits your hand really nicely. These rifles were available with the thumbhole stock like mine or a Monte Carlo stock. The thumbhole stock is sometimes called "The Planet Of The Apes" stock. LOL!

IMHO these rifles combine the best features of the SKS and the AK47.

Here is more info on SKS-d and SKS-M:

To add some comments, the sks M are the generaly thought of as the non military stocked variants of the sks rifles with ak detachable mags. I guess to call it an sks-D it's with a military type stock and bayonet too. To me its a little picky but if you find a d/m and its a good price I would recomend grabbing one.

Thanks Okie I stand corrected, I guess mine is really the SKS-M model.

Great looking SKS's. I bought a Yugo from Samco Global six months ago and I love it. It looks unused and the wood was in great condition. Shoots very accurate and clean up easy.

I wont claim to be the expert because I have read it both ways, guess maybe no one knows, even the chinese dont know who is right, because the orginal conversions were done here then copied in china and then built with planet of the apes stocks and monty carlo type stocks too. I have read there litterly were tens of factories in china pumping these things out. Not sure how many were makeing them as detachable magazines though.

That has some nice wood. What exactly is the difference between the Chinese SKS's that can have a bayonet and those that cannot? I have always wondered.

Trump, can you even use the bayonet with that one? Looks like you have some sort of aftermarket flash supressor on it. That said there were plenty of them brought in ban with bayonets. I imagine proof of importation date would be difficult, and most of these had to be built before the second ban which stoped all chinese type of military rifles from coming in.

no i cant fold it out with the flash hider on it. it becomes a mono pod.im hoping to sell a piece of property this year (god i hope so been on the market for 8 months) so i can find a carbine without a bayo and switch it out.
