Colt series 70 1911 45 acp. Easy choice. Or, S&W Mdl.29 8 3/8" barrel as that is about the time the Clint Eastwood movie of "Dirty Harry" came out.

Colt Python or S&W Model 29 both are your classic early 1970s handguns. I was 13 in 1973 and loved guns then just as much as I do now. I can tell you with out a dought those two revolvers were considered to be the best of the best in 1973. The Colt Gold cup 45 would have been the best semi-auto at the time. The movie Magnum Force was very popular around that time and it featured the Colt Pythons in the hands of a rouge squad of motorcycle cops vs the S&W M 29 carried by Eastwood. That was the first time you saw a 'fun house' combat training range with pop up targets. Eveybody who liked handguns wanted to try that. It set of a big handgun craze that lasted until Maimi Vice turned it around in the early 80s with BREN 10.

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Everybody wanted one after that movie came out.
